Once I finally snap out of my daze I see that he is done with his sandwich and is looking at me be stupid.
"Well!" I say through a fake cough and a final bite. "Thank you Max." I stand and walk to the sink to put my dish away.
He smiles and stands to walk to me, "you're welcome Paige."
"So are we ready?" I ask, dusting my hands on my pants for no apparent reason.
"I think the question is, are you ready?" He asks.
"Yep." I smile and wait for him to lead the way.
"Okay then." He walks to the door and opens it for me.
"What a gentleman." I put my hand over my heart and let out a small snort.
"Was that a snort?" He chuckles.
"Don't get all girly quarterback I did it on purpose because you're so cheesy." I say.
"Cheesy.. I didn't know that holding the door open for you was cheesy." He says sternly.
"And apparently you can't take a joke either." I giggle and skip away.
So I've come to a conclusion. He is very fun to mess with.
He scratches his head and closes the door to lead me back towards the stables.
"So, which horse can I ride?" I ask clapping my hands together.
"Well. I'll let you pick." He waves a hand in a horizontal motion, kind of like a game show hostess.
"Fun!" I say.
"This one here is mine." He pats a horses neck.
"What's his name?" I ask.
"Strider." He says.
"That's pretty." I look at the horse and stroke his mane.
"Thanks. He's been with me for years." He says before walking down the row with him.
"I think I want to ride this one." I stop and pat a horse.
"Bella." He says calmly.
"Bella." I repeat.
He opens her gate and lets her walk through.
"Wow. She's beautiful." I say trailing my hand along her back.
"Yeah, she is." He smiles.
"So let's saddle up and head out." He starts to the area where he keeps the equipment.
Max saddles up Bella first and then he saddles Strider.
"Let's go." He pulls Strider out of the stable and I do the same with Bella.
"Hop on." He says before getting on Strider.
I put one foot on the side and swing my other leg over quite gracefully to be honest.
"That was nice." He claps.
"What?" I question.
"You were so quick." He says.
