*Phil's POV*
I had a great time touring the school with Dan this morning, we didn't even go around to classes, but instead hung out until the lunch bell rang."Hungry?" Dan asked from his current position of laying down on the grass. I shook my head, even though my stomach felt like it was trying to kill itself.
"Yeah right, you aren't. Come on, let's get some food. Please?" Dan was giving me puppy eyes that I couldn't say no to. I know I had just met him, but it felt like we had known eachother for years.
After a couple of seconds of Dan saying please in a super soft voice, I finally gave in. "F-fine, I'll g-go eat with y-you, i-if you want m-me t-t-to." I said, wincing at my stuttering. Luckily, Dan didn't seem to notice, and smiled and jumped up and pulled me to the cafeteria.
I stopped just outside the doors, scared to go in and be judged by all of the other kids.
What if they bully me?
What if they think my clothes look weird?
What if they make fun of my stutter?
What if-
I felt a hand slide into mine, interrupting my thoughts. I looked up and saw Dan smiling at me. "It'll be okay, Philly. I'm here."
I squeezed his hand. "P-p-please, don't l-let go."
"I won't let go. I promise." I let Dan lead me into the cafeteria, towards the lunch line. I felt everyone's stares burning a hole through the back of my head.
You're holding hands with the most popular boy in school, idiot. That's why they're staring at you.
I gulped, and tried to take my hand out of Dan's, but he just held on tighter. "It's okay. Let them stare. I promised to not let go, remember? I plan on keeping that promise." I nodded, and let him gently pull me to the lunch line. Dan asked me what I wanted, and I said I wasn't that hungry. He still ended up ordering me some pizza and a water, the same as him.
When I tried to pay for it, Dan refused. "I'm paying, and that's final. I can't let pay for it on your first day here." He said. I pouted at him, and he smiled.
"You're cute when you're mad." Dan winked at me, and I felt my whole face go up in flames. He just chuckled under his breath as he paid for our food.
"Do you wanna sit with me and my friends? They're nice, I promise. I think they'll love you." Dan was giving me puppy eyes again. I nodded apprehensively, and he grinned like a child who had just gotten a puppy. He's so adorable, I thought to myself as he pulled me towards the table full of his friends.
A boy with bright expertly died hair and black framed glasses noticed him first, and yelled out "Hey Dan, why weren't you in first period earli- now who is this cutie? Hello, I'm Tyler, and you are?"
I blushed and looked down at the floor. "H-h-hi, m-my name is Ph-Phil. Phil L-Lester."
Dan was glaring at Tyler, and Tyler made an 'oh' face. "Ooooh okay Danny boy, I see what's going on here-" He was elbowed in the ribs by another boy with brown hair and blue eyes. "Sorry about Tyler, he can be such an idiot sometimes. I'm Troye, by the way."I smiled at him and timidly waved.
The blond girl with blue eyes who was also sitting at the table suddenly got up and hugged me excitedly, which was extremely awkward with my hand still being in Dan's.
"Hi Phil, I'm Louise, I'm sorry I just got a bit excited but just so you know, any friend of Dan's is a friend of mine, I'm sure that goes for all of us as well, what classes do you have? Will you be friends with us? How's your first day of school? Is Dan giving you any trouble, because if so I'll kick his arse for you, sorry again I'm just really excited, we don't get new people very often, and Dan doesn't like most people, and I'm rambling aren't I, I'm sorry again, I do that a lot, I don't know why really, maybe it's because-"
Louise was cut off by Dan, Tyler, and Troye all simultaneously going "Shut up, Louise!"I giggled. "H-h-hi Louise, and I would l-love t-to be your friend. You all s-seem lik=e r-really n-nice people."
They all smile at me. Tyler then smirks at Dan and says, "You ever gonna let go of the poor boys hand, Dan?"
I blush, but Dan just replied with, "Oh shut up, Tyler, we all know how much PDA you and Troye get up to practically everyday."
"Well I can't help that my boyfriend is adorable!" Tyler exclaims as Troye's face grows as red as a tomato. I laugh with everyone else as Dan and I sit down.
There is a peaceful silence as everyone starts to eat their lunch, until an extremely high pitched scream of "DANIEL!" was heard across the entire cafeteria. Dan groaned in frustration next to me, as a girl came up to us and practically screamed how she had missed Dan so much.
"Hi, Cat." Dan said unexcitedly. His mood had plummeted, he was squeezing my hand and he was now slouching over his food, probably trying to ignore this "Cat" girl in front of us.
She stopped her rambling when she saw our intertwined hands underneath the table.
Oh shi-
"Who is this loser and why are you sitting with him? You should be sitting with me instead, baby."
I heard Tyler and Louise audibly gag in the background.
I kept my head down and tried to ignore her. Dan, however, was not having it.
"Okay, listen up, bitch. This is Phil, who is a decent- no, an amazing person who is better than you will ever be. The only loser here, is you. One other thing, stop hitting on me. I'm gay. It doesn't that you can "turn" me, because I don't, and never will, like vagina. And even if I ever did like girls, do you really think I would date you, the rudest slut in the entire school? So, back the fuck off, and get the fuck out. Alright?"
Cat just huffed. "You're lying! You're lying you're lying you're lying!!!" She whined and stormed off, mumbling obscenities.
Louise, Tyler, and Troye all started clapping and cheering for Dan, and I clapped too. He grinned at us and squeezed my hand under the table.
"Th-thanks Dan." I whispered so only he could hear it. He blushed slightly. "I won't let go Philly. I promise."
And I believed him.
