A window rolled down as a familiar face came to sight. Matthew. "You want a ride?" Matthew asked. "I'm alright." I replied, not wanting to be rude since his father was there. "You sure, it looks like its going to rain soon." His dad added. "Um alright. I appreciate it." I smiled. "No problem. Matt, go sit in the back with her." He added.
As I opened the door and sat in their SUV, Matt joined me in the back. There was an empty seat between us, thank God. The radio was playing through the car. Matt's father's phone rang. He answered it which left me and Matt.
"You doing good, Zoe?" He asked. I nodded. "Yourself?" I said politely. He nodded. "So, its been a month through school and we are friends. But I still don't have your number." He trailed off. "Oh I see." I said. "You'll have to work for that." I smirked. No way on Earth, was I going to give him my number. I knew the kid for a month.
We pulled into the Walmart parking lot. "Would you mind if went in for 5 minutes?" His dad asked. "Yeah, sure. I am in no rush to get home. " I smiled. " Thank you so much." He said, before leaving the car.
This left Matt and I alone in the car. "Sorry about my dad." He began. "Sorry for what. He is so sweet." I smiled. He leaned to the front of the car, reaching for the radio. The song 'Blurred Lines', came on. "I hate this song." I groaned. He turned up the volume, yelling "What was that?" I rolled my eyes, covering my ears.
Unfortunately, I could still hear the terrible song. Matt began belting the lyrics and dancing a little. I watched him and laughed. "I know you want it." He sang while winking at me. I rolled my eyes.
I was getting tired of this terrible song. I couldn't stand it for one more minute. "Matt, please!" I begged. He quickly turned off the music. "Repeat what you just said." He said. "Matt, please?" I said, confused. "You called me Matt!" He beamed. "Shit." I mumbled. He laughed.
His dad returned, asking if Matt was bothering me. I joked around, saying he did. Soon enough his dad and I were picking on Matt. Matt sat there with his arms crossed over his chest.
Soon enough we got into my neighborhood. Matt's father pulled over to the side of the road. "Go drop her off." Matt's dad said. I got my backpack and thanked his dad again. We walked up to the door, as I got out my house key. I opened the door, setting my stuff down.
"Thanks for the ride." I smiled. "It was nice." "Anytime." He smirked. "Well then, have a great evening." I said, getting ready to close the door. "Wait." He stopped the door with his foot. "Give me your number." He demanded. "I'm good." I teased. "Zoeeee." He complained. "Mattttt." I mimicked him.
"Give me yours, you may or may not get a surprise text from me." I reasoned, not wanting to keep his father waiting. He wrote it down and handed me the paper. "I expect a text Miss. Tyler. " He scolded, while beginning towards his car. "Goodbye, Mr. Espinosa." I smirked before shutting the door.
I shut the door, putting my bag up. I heard the bell ring. Shit, who was it now. My mom was coming home at 11. It was only 5. I walked to the door. I could see a figure of a guy through the glass door. I grabbed my brothers baseball bat. I opened the door, raising the bat in the air. It was Matt. "Shit, Matt. You gave me a heart attack. " I opened the door.
"So what do you want?" I asked, confused why he was here. "Oh, I was wondering if I could come over and we could just chill." He trailed off. "Why not with Taylor?" "He finally asked Chelsea out." Matt laughed. "Its about time." I laughed with him.
"Well, then come on in." I greeted. "Thank God you said that, my dad already left." He said, relieved. I rolled my eyes, smiling. "Nice place you got." He added, looking around. "Thanks. So what do you want to do?" I stated. "Well what were you going to do?" He asked. "Well I was going to make dinner for myself, would you like to join me?" I continued. "You can help me out." I finished.
"I can't cook." He said, embarrassed. "I can. I will help you out." I beamed. "Um okay." He said nervously. "Well, tonight we are having spaghetti. I hope that's fine." "Dude, I love spaghetti." He exclaimed. "Well then, a rule in my household is that you must wear an apron." I handed him a pink one. "Seriously?" He stated. "Yes." I said, grabbing my phone. Once he finally had it on, I yelled "Matt!" He turned towards me as I took a picture of him. I immediately bursted into laughter.
Matt clearly did not want anyone want to see the picture of him, as for he ran after me. I giggled running around the house with my phone. "Zoe! You're gonna regret this if you don't give me the phone!" He yelled, getting closer to me. He quickly grabbed me as we fell back onto the sofa. I laughed, trying to catch my breath. "Now are you going to give me your phone, or we going to stay like this." He smirked.
I grabbed my phone unlocking it and showing him that I deleted the photo. He got up and pulled me up. "Now let's go make the pasta." I sighed. "Do I still have to wear the apron?" He asked. "Only if you want to." I giggled. "Alright, I will." He said proudly, as we got everything out.
