After the encounter with Lucus, I was left standing awkwardly in the hallway. Before I was able to turn and find something to look busy with, Ava Paige rounded the corner of the long hall. Great, just who I did not wanna see. It's like she knew exactly where to find me.

"Dr... um, Willow is it." It was more of a rhetorical question when Ava Paige grabbed my wrist insisting I follow. Ava Paige was the leader of Wicked. I had heard lots of stories about her and what she has done, yet this was the first time I had seen her in person. She was not on my good side. This was the lady I wanted to kill, to take down. She put me and my friends through hell and back, Yet I had to stand there and act as if I was on her side. As if I adored her because that's how every other scientist in this compound feels. I was dragged down the twisting halls of Wicked once again.

"I understand that you went through the Maze Trials," Ava said in almost a mocking tone.

"Yes, I did." I paused waiting to see where this conversation was going to go.

"And then you decided to come and help into the program." By now she was stating facts, not asking questions. "I was torn about sending you off into the Scorch. Afraid that you might betray us. But I was convinced that your brain was too valuable to waste like that." I was very confused by this point.

"Has something like that happened before?" I asked.

"What are you referring to?"

"Someone that went through the trials, joining the system and betrayal happening. Has that happened?"

"Once. But we learned from our mistakes." She kept her voice level and never giving me a side glance. By this time we had arrived in a part of wicked, I had never been before. "You're going to help me with something Willow." Her bony fingers now latched once again onto my wrist and sliding her badge into a door. A click could be heard as if someone on the inside unlocked the door. Ava pushed the door open with her forearm. The room was only slightly different from the normal lab that I was used to. It had two tables side by side with large lights hanging above them. Large metal tables with some wires and a mask were hanging above them also. The tables for people I was assuming, which sent a shiver down my spine at the thought.

I walked into the cold room when I was knocked in the head by something cold and hard. I stumbled backward from the sudden force into Ava Paige. I doubled over grasping at my head from the pain. Blood was seeping out of the wound that had been inflicted. Once I straighten up, a gasp came from someone in the room, it could have been me. I spun on my heel to look at Ava. She had a hard look in her eyes. I barely got a glance at her before I was swept out from under my own feet. Everything was in slow motion until I was slammed into the cold table. It knocked the breath out of me, yet still not unconscious. Gasping for air I could hear Ava mumble something. One last hit from the left side of my head and it all went black.

sorry, I don't know if it's just me, but this is kind of a weird chapter. I hope you liked it anyway!:)
