The tranquilizer darts locked me and Bill in the mindscape. I paced backwards and forwards while the dream demon watched.
"What do they want from us? I mean, we thought we had thrown them off when we hid... It must have been that machine. When it went off he must have become suspicious... But then how did he know we're a demon?"
"Relax Pine Tree." Bill said.
"Relax? Relax?" I stormed. Glaring at him, "we are stuck here while they do who knows what to Mabel and Stan and my body! Would we even know if we had died in this stupid place?"
"You forgot Sixer." Bill commented.
I looked up. "What?"
"You forgot to add Sixer to your endangered relatives list. Chances are he's in the same boat your sister and other uncle is in."
"Oh... Right..." I frowned. "Well... He has his gun..."
Bill laughed, "oh this is priceless! You don't care about him!"
"I-i do!" I exclaimed.
"I don't blame you kid. He hasn't exactly been real chummy lately." Bill sighed and hung upside down in midair, "we used to be real pals, y'know? But it appears he refuses to even risk repeating his mistake. He's so caught up in the fact that he got tricked by me, that he won't listen to reason."
"You're not exactly the voice of reason Bill." I sighed and my journal appeared in front of me. It had been created from magic, so it could move in and out of the mindscape. I summoned a pen and sat down. Beginning to scribble down a sketch. I had been practicing a lot over the past autumn, winter and spring. I was getting pretty goof if I do say so myself.
Bill yawned and floated above me. "What's up? You were all fire and brimstone a minute ago."
"I'm making sure I don't forget his face." I drew the figure of the man who was in charge. Marcus Colman.
"Why? Gonna go looking for revenge?" Bill asked.
"No... Not exactly..." I said.
"You sound like you have a plan."
"Well... The beginnings of one at least. But you're gonna have to be in control of my body a lot more if we're gonna pull it off."
"I like it already." Bill chuckled madly.
The hours passed as I worked on my plan. But it didn't seem to have a means to an end. It was just something that might keep up alive for a little longer. The agents wouldn't want to hurt us permanently. Not if we were valuable to them. So all we had to do was to play a few mind games, and that would keep us protected. For a little while at least. Hopefully.
I had no idea how we would get out of this however. It seemed impossible. This was the government for God's sake!
I scribbled down my plans. Bill looking over my shoulder. And then the world began to turn white around us, dissolving.
"Finally. We're waking up." Bill said.
"You know the plan?" I asked.
"Relax kid. If anyone in this dimension can pull this off its me." Bill cracked his knuckles and the world turned white around us.
And Bill opened my eyes.
He moved my head slightly. There was a bright light above us. Everything else was dark. He tried to move my arms and legs without much success.
"Don't bother trying to escape. Those chains are made of blessed silver." A voice came from somewhere in the room.
Showtime. Bill stopped moving. He kept my head down. Eyes closed.
"What? Don't be afraid. What's on your mind?"
Bill. You need to take control of the situation. Act like you're the one in charge. I urged him.
I know Pine tree, shut up.
"So, are you going to come out of hiding or am I going to have to play hide and seek?" Bill said calmly.
The blinding light moved away, and dim grey ceiling lights were turned on. I could see where we were. Strapped down to a stainless steel table by silver chains. The room was completely empty aside from an iron door set into the steel wall. But more importantly, Marcus Colman stood looking over us.
"Ah! Marcus Colman, is it? Pleasure to meet you again. I hope I don't offend you when I say you make for a rather poor houseguest. One should not kidnap their host." Bill said.
"Quiet Demon. I don't want to hear you blather. I want to hear answers." Colman snapped.
"Ooh. Temper." Bill grinned.
Marcus pressed a button on the table and it tilted, slowly moving to an upright angle. He waited until we stopped moving and then cleared his throat.
"So then, demon. I have some questions for you." He began.
"And how exactly did someone like you discover who I was?" Bill said, successfully veiling the sudden panic we felt. They knew what we were.
Colman sighed and put a hand into his suit pocket. He piled out what looked like a silver pen. He clicked it and a voice recording crackled to life.
"Well if its uncomfortable then just walk already." Mabel's voice laughed through the microphone.
"Alright. Alright." I heard my own voice moan. "You never let me sleep."
"Well then you shouldn't stay up all night doing black magic, Demi-Demon bro." Mabel said.
Colman stopped the recording and Bill remained expressionless.
Damn that shooting star!
Its not her fault!
Well now they know what we are!
But... The plan can still work.
"Oh well done. Is that how far human technology has come?" Bill said sarcastically.
"I want answers demon." Colman repeated.
"So you've said."
"Where are you from?"
"Ah. Well, I'm afraid if you want to know that then you'll have to give me something in return." Bill grinned widely.
"I'm warning you demon! We could torture you, starve you, put you through hell itself!" Colman snapped.
"Hell, its actually quite a nice place once you get over the stench of burning bodies. You should go there sometime. Maybe I could help." Bill said. His voice getting darker on the last sentence.
"Demon! You will listen to me!" Colman barked.
"Someone's getting desperate. But seriously. There is nothing you meatsacks can do to me so you might as well let me loose before you get hurt." Bill warned.
Colman just stared at us. He didn't seem to know what to do. He probably thought we'd act differently.
He spat and walked to the door. "I'll be back, Monster." He spat. And the door buzzed and swung open.
Monster?
