Prologue
My phone chimed and a look of confusion crossed my face at the text that appeared on my screen “Hey congrats on your grad! You excited about starting school?” The text came from Lance, a known lady’s man who is also currently in school to become an engineer. Lance and I knew each other through his sister, Larissa who was one of my best friends.
Seeing the text message from Lance surprised me because we never really spoke, he was just “Larissa’s big brother” oh and did I mention he was also a few years older than me? I quickly sent a response “Thanks yes! I’m packing now, I leave this Saturday”His response came back almost instantly“ Damn College already, you grew up so fast Kendra. So can I visit when you get settled?” Wait is he texting the right person? Lance and I never spoke to each other this way, hell we never spoke to each other at all unless I was with Larissa and he just happened to be around. “Sure” I quickly hit send and threw my phone on the bed so I could finish packing.
I just graduated high school last month and was preparing to start my first year at FSU in Tallahassee, I was excited but also worried at the same time. It would be my first time living away from home in an apartment with people I didn’t know! Not to mention a whole new city! It was finally time to be an adult and I was so ready... or so I though.
