“What do you need to tell us?” Chris asked again suspiciously. Just then the rest of the girls walked up to us.
Lance smiled, “Damn you caught us” he said looking at Chris. What was he up to? “You know my sister’s birthday is in a few weeks and I mentioned to Ken that we should all take a weekend trip, I told her we should tell you guys tonight so everyone can have plenty of time to get ready, but you know Ken she wanted to keep it a surprise.”
“No way!” Larissa screamed, hugging lance. “You’re taking me on a trip?” “Don’t look at me, it was all Ken’s idea” Lance said smiling at me. I don’t know how it was so easy for him to lie his way out of every situation. “Oh my God! Kendra you’re the best!” Larissa said hugging me next. I could smell the alcohol on her breath. “You’re welcome love.” “So where are we going?” she glanced from me to Lance “Now that I am keeping a surprise” I said forcing a smile.
Chris looked uncertain but he accepted our answer and asked if we were ready to leave. I quickly agreed and we all headed out. Lance offered to drive the girls home and Chris and I took the girls’ rental car, I would have to pick them up tomorrow morning. We all said goodnight and Lance promised to get all three girls home safe, I smiled as they all pulled out of the club parking lot.
Chris grabbed my hand when I got in the car, I turned and smiled at him. “So what’s up with Lance?” he asked after a few minutes of silence. “what do you mean?” I tried to keep my tone even. “I don’t know, he just seemed very interested in spending time with you the whole night.” I frowned, the last thing I needed was for Chris to suspect something. I looked at him and he quickly glanced in my direction, “Babe Lance and I have known each other since we were kids, that’s all it is. He’s like that with Chloe and Nae too” I tried to reassure him. He squeezed my hand a little and smiled “You’re right, you guys grew up together, I’m sorry babe.” “Don’t apologize” I said turning my head away from him, it hurt me so much to lie to Chris.
We arrived at Chris’s place around 3:30 and I was too exhausted to drive home so I decided to spend the night. Chris gave me an oversize shirt and gym shorts to sleep in. I walked into the small, dimly lit bathroom to get ready. I spent the night at Chris’s place before so I kept a toothbrush and other toiletries there. After getting ready I walked back in the room to find Chris already in bed waiting for me. He patted the spot next to him and pulled the covers down so I could get in. I smiled and made myself comfortable with my head on his chest. “I love you baby” I said looking up into his hazel eyes. He smiled “I love you too babe.” He leaned down and softly kissed me.
After a few minute, I started to doze off until my phone chimed. I looked back and saw that Chris was fast asleep. I opened the text from Lance “Hey babe! Girls are home and in bed. You home and sleep yet?” I quickly replied “Spending the night at Chris’s house.” A few seconds later I received another text “L what’s wrong with your bed?” I sighed softly “Goodnight Lance!” “I love you KenJ”. Once again I sighed “Yeah, talk to you tomorrow”
“Who are you texting at this time?” his voice startled me and I jumped. He laughed a sleepy laugh “I’m sorry baby, I didn’t mean to scare you.” He pulled me back into his arm. I smiled “Lance was just letting me know the girls are home. “ “Oh ok that’s good. Now go to sleep baby.” I smiled and turned so that I was facing him “Are you sleepy?” He smiled “Yes but I’m guessing you’re not?” “I am but, never mind.” He sat up on his elbow and looked down at me “No tell me baby.” I laughed “I’d rather show you” I said pushing him back on the bed and straddling him. “Hmm” he moaned and smiled as my lips found his. “On second thought, I’m not that tired.” I laughed at his words and went back to his lips.
