Chapter 16
My week went by really quickly.
Monday was awkward because everyone was staring at me. They must have seen the picture on Twitter of Hayes, Nash, Cameron, and I.
On Tuesday, people still stared but now girls were coming up to me asking about Hayes, Nash, and Cameron and how I knew them.
On Wednesday, Hayes's friends started to say hi to me and talk to me.
On Thursday, I went to Hayes's game and then everyone knew what was going on between us.
When the game was over, Hayes came over and noticed I was there. We were in the far corner of the field when Hayes gave me a hug. With his arms wrapped around me, Hayes gave me a kiss. We thought no one was looking, but someone took a picture and put it on Twitter.
So on Thursday night I received some hate because some people were jealous, but there's nothing I could do about it.
On Friday, school was more awkward than Monday.
Anytime we were in the same class, people would walk in and say, "AW," really loudly.
Anytime we were in the same hallway, people would say, "AW," really loudly.
Finally, school was let out on Friday.
When I got home, I finished packing and walked downstairs.
"Mom, where's my bikini?" I said.
"In the dryer, which one are you bringing, the red one or blue one?"
"I'm bringing both, but I'm most likely only going to wear the blue one."
"Okay! The red one is a little small, just saying!"
"Yeah, that's why I'm wearing the blue one," I said.
I find it funny when my mom tries to act like she cares. She cares about me, but trusts me enough to make my own decisions.
"Okay honey," she hugged me, "I hope you have fun this weekend. I talked to Nila and Elizabeth the other day and you have me and your father's full trust."
"Thank you mom, I love you! Too bad Dad got called into work tonight, I can't say goodbye."
"You'll see him soon," she said.
"I'm going to finish packing," I said going upstairs.
I walked inside my room and put everything I needed to in my bag.
I saw the shirt Hayes gave me and decided to pack it. It was inside out because I didn't wash it yet.
I was afraid that if I wash it, I couldn't smell Hayes anymore.
Hayes smelled like a mixture of salty ocean air and a breeze in the woods.
I was turning it the other way around when I noticed something written on the inside in Sharpie.
It said, "Always believe in yourself"
I smiled and thought, "Sure thing!"
I finished packing and my mom dropped me off at Hayes's house.
This is it.
I walked inside as my mom talked to Nila.
Hayes's two cousins who were my age came up to me and said, "Are you Abby? Hayes doesn't stop talking about you!"
He came down the stairs and said, "Hi Abby!"
I went on my tiptoes and hugged him.
We held hands, walked over to the living room, and sat down.
"Mine name is Mary, and she's Ashlynn!"
"Hi!" I said.
