Chapter 15: There's Always A First Time For Jealousy

Note: Because everyone is as evil as I am to want to see Knot suffer from jealousy 😂  To be really honest, I had a difficult time writing Knot's part. I just can't see him blowing his top like Arthit/Prem or being reckless like they are, so here's my take on how it went.

Knot only found out that Tew was going to be part of Maprang's project when the junior apologetically told him that he wouldn't be able to make it for the evening run that day.

''Maprang needs help with her elective project. Kongpob turned her down, so the next best person was me...I think.''

He found it strange that Kongpob would turn a classmate down. As far as Knot was concerned, Tew and the other male was similar in that way. Always ready to help and rarely able to say 'no'.

''Why did he turn her down?''

Tew tore off the wrapper of his Reese's peanut butter chocolate bar which the senior had bought for him, nibbling on the outer coating, ''She wants to highlight the issue of safe sex in her video, so there's a scene where a ''couple'' is on the bed and talking about it. To make it more realistic, both of them are going to be half-naked. Kongpob doesn't think P'Arthit will be too happy about it...which is why he turned her down.''

Knot visibly froze in his seat at the words 'couple', 'bed' and 'half-naked', his mind whirring to process the information.

''And you offered yourself instead?''

He hadn't meant for his tone to come off as terse.

''But...it just didn't feel right to say no, P'.'' Tew resembled a kicked puppy that had no idea what he had done wrong. ''Maprang's helped me a lot with projects and stuff.''

Tew didn't want to fool himself into thinking that Knot was jealous or anything. Like he said, assuming was the most dangerous thing someone could do where your crush is involved.

''Who's the person you're doing it with?''

''I haven't met him yet, P'. He's one of Maprang's senior teammates from the Comm Arts faculty. We're filming today, so I'll see him later.

Knot reminded himself that he had no right over Tew and that the junior hadn't done anything wrong. Tew was just being his usual, helpful self...except this time, being helpful meant acting as someone's damn 'boyfriend' with only a towel on. Just thinking about it was enough for mild irritation to start bubbling up in him.

''What time do you have to be there?''

''Four? It's not going to take long. Maybe an hour or so just to get the important scenes. I'm kind of nervous though...I don't know anyone else apart from Maprang.''

Knot was aware that he was going to suffer for what he was about to say, but he asked nevertheless, ''Do you want me to be there?''

Which idiot would offer to be there and watch while the guy he likes is half-naked with another guy? Him, apparently. Who knew he was a sucker for self-suffering.

''Really, P'Knot? You'll do that?''

''Someone's got to keep an eye on you. God knows what you'll say yes to the nex time someone asks for your help.''

Tew crunched on the ice in his mouth and moodily stirred his drink with his half-bitten straw. It was a habit which he couldn't seem to break - always biting the tip of his straw until it was all wrinkled around the edges.
