P.O.V -of- An Old Man

I move in my rocking chair

Breathing in the country air

Grass so long it blows in the wind

My greasy overalls with one button pinned

I just got back from working on the car

So my dear old lady doesn't have to walk so far

She's been mighty tired, even sick

I start to knaw hard on my tooth pick

You see, my love for my dear old lady

Was a bit in the dark, kind of shady

That was before, this is now

A sound reaches my ears, I look at a cow

Bess! The cows name, she was her baby

Meant so much to my dear old lady

It broke my heart when she passed

Cancer took her life, painful but fast

What shattered and killed me deep inside

Was when she looked at me with undeniable pride

In a voice that was at a void of life

She whispered, "I was proud to be your wife."

I fixed the car just like she asked before

Though she isn't here with me anymore...
