Chapter 17

I was walking down the street with Lilly. We pasted by many stores and other buildings before I saw the familiar sign of the grocery store. The alley way would be just before that.

As we came nearer I began to scent the fimiliar scent of Gabriel. I wouldn't doubt he'd been there since 1 AM... I felt a kick and winced slightly. Lilly looked up at me. "Is everything ok?" She asked.

I only smiled and put her hand to my baby bump. Her mouth dropped in shock as she felt the kick and movement of the babies. "Those are the twins." I told her.

"What are they doing?" She asked.

"Just moving and kicking." I explained.

"Hey!" She said looking down at my belly. "Stop kicking Sapphire!" Lilly scolded. I only laughed and drew her hair out of her eyes behind her ear.

"It's alright Lilly. That's what all babies do."

"Does it hurt?"

"Sometimes it can hurt but it's just a little pinch."

We continued walking the few more steps we had and turned into the alley way. "Sapphire!" I heard the fimiliar voice.

"Are the omega's war wolves now?" I'd ask.

"They're in training for now..." he'd look down.

"Good. I'll go back with you in peace and inspect it... but if it's still bad I'm coming right back here." I said making it clear not to mess with me.

By night fall we had gotten home and I had been able to inspect the pack grounds. Gabriel had seemed to truly change? Everyone in the pack seemed much happier which was a big relief to me.

I had sent Lilly to bed earlier and I was now walking down the hall to the alpha hall with Gabriel. I felt a sharp kick and winced as another came after it. Seeing me stop and in pain Gabriel got worried and rushed to my side. "Are you alright?"

I gently grabbed his hand and put it to my stomach. A look of shock crossed his face. "The twins." I told him.

Gabriel sighed pulling me into another room. "I'm sorry for how I treated you before... It's just.. well.. my father abused me as a child... I was taught to grow up without any fears or else I would be punished.. My little sister..." I gave him a questioning look.

"You have a sister?" I asked.

"Had..." he'd sigh. "My father killed her and blamed it on me... my mother never looked at me the same way again.. she could hardly look at me ever... I was... I was so sad... I had no one..."

"Gabriel... I never knew... I'm..I'm so sorry..."

"No, I never should have treated you the way I did. It's no excuse..." He said and wrapped his arms around me. It felt right. I hadn't been around him for 9 days... I had to admit the mate bond had made me feel a little lost... I was happy to be back with him especially since he'd change. If he hadn't I don't know if I could say the same.

I leaned my head against his shoulder and sighed. I wrapped my arms loosely around his waist and stood there for a second as he kissed my head.

"I never meant to hurt you Sapphire... I love you." He said softly his voice laced with regret and pain.

"I love you too Gabriel." I told him.

That right there felt like a million bricks had been lifted off of my chest. The words I had been longing to here, knowing they were true, had finally come. The man who I knew could change, had finally changed. Now no wolf would need fear him. No more wolves would be haunted in their dreams by him.

He was good. The demons that taunted him in his head disappeared, defeated. That's all that mattered to me. And now, our family could settle in.

2 months later

I smiled at Gabriel as he left. He was going on a patrol around the border and then he was to watch one of the finals for a trainer. These last two months he had been way more kind. He'd compromise problems.

Before, he was set to hunt only prey. Even in the winter when it was scarce. Of course people would skin it and cook it but in winter most went hungry. Now that he's changed his ways in the winter, wolves would go to the town where they'd get food.

Gabriel was also supposed to go to town today with some wolves to see how that was going. He was scared wolves might turn in the open giving away the secret we'd been hiding for centuries.

As I looked out the window at the snowy blanket that covered the once green grass I felt a hard kick. Letting out a grunt, I looked down at my now very large belly. The twins were due any day now. I was really happy. I couldn't wait, life was going to be so much better.

I felt another hard kick and then something wet run down my leg. I looked down to water pooling around me. My breathing started to quicken and my eyes widened.

"Shit! Oh come on mother nature! I thought we could be on good terms finally!?"

OK guys, I just wanna apologize. I know I haven't been updating and I'm really sorry about that XP hopefully I'll be better now XP anyway, hope you liked this chapter.

I'm gonna wrap this book up pretty soon but with a sequel in mind! This first book qas to kinda settle in not really with with big action plot or anything like that but the next one definitely will!

So only a couple more chapter and then new book! But I will probably have a draft of the sequel too!
