Gasping for air, my eyes opened. All I could see was darkness. Was I dead? I attempted to adjust myself, but feeling pressure everywhere, I knew I couldn't. I realized there was nothing I could do. I was alive, but slowly suffocating. My chest hurt and my head felt light, I wanted to throw up.

It was a horrible feeling. One I had already felt before. The feeling of death. Coming so close to leaving this world, becoming free of all the pain. The world didn't know if it wanted me dead or not. And honestly, I didn't know either.

Feeling the pressure dig into my back, I winced. I wanted to scream. I tried, opening my mouth and attempting to call out. No noise came out.

Suddenly, pressure lifted off my body, and I saw a stream of light from the corner of my eye. Something slammed against the ground and I could hear it make a loud thud. A few seconds later, all the pressure was lifted off my body.

My vision was blurry and I closed my eyes at how bright it was. Someone shook me, their voice cracking as they spoke.

"(___). Please. Get up."

The person grabbed me, placing my head against their chest. My eyes fluttered open and I moved my head back. It was Ethan. He was alive.

"Ethan?"

"Yeah, its me." He began, wiping his eyes.

I was surprised he decided to help me. I was so mad at him for earlier. "You...came for me?"

"Of course I did." Ethan told me, attempting to stand up. "It was one little fight. And before you start yelling at me, Marzia kissed me. I tried to push her away- I swear. Remember what I said a while ago? No matter what happens, we'll go through it together."

"I'm sorry." Was all I could say.

I shivered out of nowhere, now realizing how cold it was. I looked around, seeing a portion of the walls missing. We were no longer safe.

"Lets go. Amy and Mark are alright." Ethan whispered, helping me up.

"What about Tyler?" I asked.

Ethan stopped immediately, closing his eyes tightly. I held my breath, knowing exactly why Ethan was acting like this. Tyler was dead.

"How?" I whispered, my bottom lip trembling.

Ethan swallowed the lump in his throat. "Phil shot him."

I didn't cry. I couldn't. I felt too empty inside, like I was drained. My eyes burned, demanding water to hydrate them. Ethan gave me a sad expression and lead me to Mark and Amy, limping as he walked.

"They should be around here somewhere..." Amy muttered to herself as she looked around.

"You're sure they actually have cars?" Ethan let out, staring straight ahead.

Amy nodded "I did some snooping, they had a few."

"We might want to find them faster," I spoke up. "the undead are more than likely coming. That explosion was pretty damn loud."

Amy turned a corner then smiled widely. "Here they are! Hey, Mark? You think you can get one started up?"

I turned to Mark who had been silent the whole time. He shrugged in response to Amy's question, but walked to the car. Amy, Ethan, and I stood and watched Mark attempt to get the car to start. He managed to do it, the engine rumbling.

"Hey!"

We all turned around, hearing someone running towards us. Rosanna waved her hand, Gerald following closely behind her.

"Got room for two more?" Gerald asked when the two of us reached us.

Ethan hummed then shook his head. "We'll need a second car. Mark?"

Mark tilted his head and sighed, walking to another car. "Go ahead."

Ethan, Amy, Mark, and I climbed into the first car. Gerald and Rosanna got into the other. I sighed with relief, happy there was gas in the cars.

We started driving, me staring out the window as the snow felt against the glass. I felt Ethan place his hand on mine and looked to him. He smiled at me and I smiled back. At least I still had Ethan. That's all I needed.
