The apocalypse was always thought to happen. But when it did happen, no one was prepared. Humanity died down far too quickly and finding someone alive was rare. (___) is alone. Until she meets him, that is.
This is a story taking placing during a z...
Hearing a groan behind me, I turned my head slowly. Rosanna's dead body began moving. I looked back to Sean who was still taunting Ethan; Marzia, Felix, and Signe all watching watching with joy on their faces.
My stomach burned as I shifted my body, blood covering the ground. I bit my tongue in an attempt to keep myself from screaming out. I grabbed my knife out of my back pocket. It still had Dan's blood on it. I ignored it.
Crawling slowly, I got closer to Rosanna. Signe glanced at me and I stopped, acting like I hadn't moved the whole time. She narrowed her eyes and walked over to me.
"What's the matter? Don't like seeing your boyfriend so scared?" Signe mocked.
Without thinking, I lifted my arm, stabbing my knife into the side of her neck. Her expression changed from smug to shocked, her eyes going wide as she began to gag. The other three turned around in time to see Signe fall over.
Marzia went over to Signe's body and looked up at Sean. "She's dead. She killed her."
Sean's face went red from anger, him stomping over to me. He raised his arm high and stabbed through my hand forcefully. I screamed at the feeling, not daring to look.
"Why don't we just kill her already?" Felix asked, putting his hands on his hips.
"I want her to suffer," Sean responded. "Just like her stupid friends."
Ethan winced at Sean's words then glared angrily. "I should have killed you. We shouldn't have left, (___). We should have shot him again, and again, and again."
"We would have come after you, with or without Sean." Felix said to Ethan.
"You don't scare me." Ethan shot back. He looked up at Felix, holding up his middle finger. "I can shove this right up your ass if I wanted to."
"Then this-" Felix raised his thumb, puckering his lips like he was talking to a dog. "Would go right in your eye."
Sean laughed. "Oh please, there are so many better things to do to him."
"The best would be to kill her." Marzia demanded. "He's lost everything. If this bitch was gone then-"
"It would be nice to watch the life slowly drain from (___), wouldn't it?" Sean asked in a sweet tone.
"Then why don't we do it?" Felix questioned, his voice full of annoyance.
Sean smirked evilly. "You know what would be better than us doing it?"
Marzia and Felix caught on quickly, both of them looking to Ethan. "If he did it."
Ethan raised his eyebrows then looked at me. Felix walked over to Ethan, forcing him off the ground and dragging him towards me. Sean walked away for a moment, coming back with another gun. Felix kicked Ethan, forcing him onto his knees.
Sean placed the gun in Ethan's hand with a horrifying smile on his face. Ethan looked to the gun in his hand, then to me.
"Come on, loverboy." Marzia said, holding her gun to the back of Ethan's head.
Ethan raised his trembling arm, the gun making a clicking noise. The noise made me think of our first few days together. What got us into this whole mess. I stared at Ethan, my breathing ragged.
Suddenly, Ethan threw his arm back, grabbing Marzia's long hair, and yanking her to the ground. Her head slammed into the floor loudly, blood forming in her mouth. Felix shot at Ethan, the bullet just missing. Ethan grabbed Felix's arm just before Felix shot again.
Marzia picked herself up and raised her gun to shoot Ethan. I kicked her hand with all my force, ignoring the pain. The gun slid across the floor, hitting the wall. I brought my foot onto Marzia's head, causing her to slam into the floor again.
I slammed my heel against her head over and over. Then I started to crawl to Rosanna again. She was closer, faster was better. I reached her dangling legs and grabbed her ankle. Pulling down, I tried to force the rope to break. Somehow, it worked. The now undead Rosanna fell to the ground but stood up almost instantly.
I scooted along the ground, the walker now following me. Ethan landed a punch on Felix and stepped back. Felix noticed me and raised an eyebrow. Rosanna reached him and bit into his neck.
Felix hollered and blindly shot behind him, managing to shoot Rosanna through the head. She fell to the ground and Felix laughed, ignoring his neck. He raised his gun to shoot, but froze before falling over.
I smiled and looked at Ethan proudly. "That was all me, baby."
Ethan snorted at my comment. He leaned down and grabbed the gun out of Felix's fingers. "Yeah, but I get this one." He shot Marzia quickly. She may have already been dead with the force of getting hit in the head so many times.
"Just in case?" I asked.
"Yep, just in case." Ethan answered.
Only one of them left. I looked around, searching for Sean. When I didn't see him, I turned to Ethan. "He's gone."
"Probably ran off like a pussy." Ethan joked. He then looked to me with a serious expression. "Stay here, I'm gonna kill that bastard."
