A Dragon's Plight (ONGOING)

CHAPTER 20

I wasn't sure if Freya's plan would work, but we  wouldn't know unless we try it. Instead of using my energy to tame the powers of the draconis corde, I used all of its might to heal Freya to her full health so she could break me free from my binds. We' d have to act quickly because our guards will check on us the second they hear the sounds of chains breaking.

Once my bindings fell to the floor in a loud clang, a few guards looked in on us. I stayed in the middle of the room to distract them while Freya hid behind the door to ambush them.

Using every combat skills I learned from Kuya Alaric to conserve my magic, I fought along Freya and watched her back.

Once we made sure that we defeated the guards, we took their clothes to disguise ourselves. I bound and gagged them with a simple spell making sure they are unable to ring an alarm or call for help. We left them inside the room and locked it with an enchantment to keep the others from seeing them right away.

Dressed in our enemies' clothes with dirt on our faces and bandannas on our heads to hide our gender from others, we sneaked our way out of the enemies encampment.

Buti na lang at nalibot na ni Freya ang kinaroroonan namin bago pa siya gulpihin at ikulong kasama ko kaya naman may alam siyang lugar na maaari naming daanan. Wala daw dumadaan dun bukod sa mga iilang alila nila Clarisse kaya hindi kami mahuhuli.

We were traversing a narrow and dim hallway in the basement that would lead us to a cellar door to the side of the property near the woods when we felt the ground shake and we heard a faint boom.

Hindi ako kaagad nakakapit sa dingding kaya natumba pa ako sa lakas ng pagyanig ng lupa. Bago pa ko makatayo, nakarinig kami ng malakas na ungol ng isang dragon.

I shivered in fright at the anger and misery in that roar when I realized the dragon who owns it.

Napahawak ako sa kumikirot kong dibdib. Ngayong alam kong malapit lang si Rigo, hindi na maitago sakin ng mahikang bumabalot sa palasyo nila Clarisse ang nararamdaman niyang pighati at desperasyon sa pagkawala ko.

He has to keep his emotions in check and his mind clear in order to win a fight, any fight at all. Baka ikapahamak niya pa ang pagiging masyadong emosyonal. I need to go to his side soon or it will be too late.

Nagtatakang napatingala si Freya para pakinggang mabuti ang nangyayari sa labas. She was too preoccupied with our safety to realize that it was the Dragonian Army. "May sumugod kila Clarisse. From the sound of it and the earth tremors, may parte ng kuta nila ang pinasabog. Kailangan na nating makalabas dito dahil baka bigla na lang gumuho 'tong gusali. Delikado dahil hindi natin alam kung aling parte ang napinsala." Mabilis akong inalalayan ni Freya patayo at mabilis na inakay ako patakbo kaya hindi na kami nakapag-usap.

When we reached the cellar door, Freya checked to see if it was safe outside first.

Nang mapagtantong walang tao, nagmadali kaming lumabas para magkubli sa gubat na nasa likod ng property para ligtas na makiramdam kung nasaan nagaganap ang gulo na narinig namin.

That's when I told her that Rigo and the others were here.

"They're here to save us." I told her. Huminga muna ako nang malalim nang ilang beses bago ituloy ang sasabihin. "Rigo's not himself. He's too angry and too desperate to get me back. Baka maisahan siya nila Clarisse."

Saglit na nag-isip ang kasama ko. "I need to change form. I'll fly you there. Masyadong pansinin ang anyong dragon mo. Mabilis kang makikilala ng mga tauhan nila Clarisse. Baka tirahin ka nila kaagad sa ere kapag nakita ka nila."

I climbed her back the second she was finished transforming into her black dragon and we quickly flew to the air. We needed to fly high in the air so I can scout the exact location of Rigo.

When I found him, I used our connection to see through his sight without his knowledge to avoid distracting him with my presence. And I was terrified with what I saw. He was facing Clarisse and he was surrounded by her father and their cronies.

If the circumstances were different, I knew he could fight them all off despite being outnumbered. But he wasn't thinking clearly. His focus is on Clarisse because he was trying to find out where I am. He was oblivious to the others casting a spell on him.

Kaagad kong sinabi kay Freya ang nakita ko at naramdaman ko ang pagbalot ng tensyon sa bawat himaymay ng katawan niya.

Kaagad akong nagpasya. "We can't stay together if we want a chance to save Rigo. You have to contact Tita Selena and Kuya Alaric. Tell them to come to our aid. I'll go to Rigo right away."

Now that we are outside Clarisse' palace, there was a big possibility that Freya can now use whatever mind link the army has with one another. She'd be able to find the others much easier than I could since I wasn't really part of the army and I haven't been with them long enough to recognize their psyche and spiritual essence.

I jumped off Freya's back and transformed into a dragon in midair. I hurriedly flew to where Rigo was, praying that the spells cast on him won't harm him right away.

From my viewpoint in the air above them, I could easily see the aura of the spell they were casting on Rigo. They were weaving something akin to a spiderweb around him with the threads winding around his tail, extremities and all over his body. What scared me the most was the thread that was directly weaving its way through his scales and right onto his heart. Each fiber was starting to glow a dark red color signalling that the spell is at its peak.

Putting my faith that the power we share would spare Rigo from being burned by my dragon's fire, I breathed fire all over him and the web.

The moment he felt my fire and presence, Rigo instantly calmed down. Now that he knows I am safe, he can now concentrate on fighting them.

Everyone was taken aback by my fire. Like my scales, it was different in color from the others. Instead of a fiery red, it was blinding white and much hotter from everyone else's dragon's breath. It also cleanses evil magic, rendering it useless.

Taking advantage of their surprise, Rigo quickly disabled the enemies except for Clarisse. I landed beside Rigo and together we faced her.

With all her allies on the ground, some writhing in pain while others are paralyzed or unconscious, fear was evident on her face. She was quick to realize that she was outnumbered and that she was no match for us especially in her human form.

Now that we're together, fighting to protect each other, no dragon in the world, even one with black magic, is strong enough to perish us.
