Ri's POV
"What!? What happened? How can we help?" I said, very worried for our safety.
Obsidian looked at me, then at Riley.
"I'm glad to finally meet you!" She said
"This is not the time for introductions! What is going on?"
"Okay, okay. So you killed Keaton right?"
Riley and I nodded.
"That wasn't actually Keaton, as strange as it seems. Keaton is still dead, but his soul was reformed into something darker than anything in this world. His minions carry very dangerous power that nobody should have. Luckily, they don't know about how to tap into this power."
I heard Riley let out a sigh of relief.
"The bad news is, the darkness is aware of this power and that it was released when they sacrificed some of their kind to bring Keaton 'back to life.' When Keaton told you that he was going to kill you both, he really wasn't being himself. Keaton has a dark mind, but he wouldn't try to just kill you guys without a fair chance of fighting back. However, the darkness that has filled his heart as well as his mind changed how he thought, and how he acted."
"Wait, how was Keaton able to control me? Surely the darkness isn't smart enough to figure that out." Riley said.
"The darkness wasn't controlling you Riley, you were. It was a flash back to the future-- a flash forward if you will."
"I try to kill myself in the future with a dagger in a palace looking area?"
"Well, maybe. I'm not exactly sure. But I do know how they managed to put you into this flash forward."
The ground shook. I watched as one of the chains holding a cage to the ceiling snapped, and the cage started to fall. I closed my eyes, not wanting to know what would happen if it hit the floor.
I opened my eyes, and saw Obsidian blasting a beam of green light from her hands, to the black creature that had emerged from the broken cage on the ground. The power of the beam was so strong, it blew me into the wall on the other side of the room. Obsidian's beam stopped shooting, even though she was still holding her hands out.
"RUN!" Obsidian shouted as the creature leaped onto her and she disappeared into black mist.
The creature disappeared with Obsidian, so what else was there to run from? I looked around, but then heard a scream. I jolted around and watched as darkness minions appeared through the wall and grabbed onto Riley.
"RILEY-------" I watched as Riley disappeared into the same black mist as Obsidian did.
"No...." I collapsed onto the ground, wishing that this was all a dream and I was back in the castle with Riley. I wished that Brillar was on my shoulder and that Sombra was jumping on me, happy to see my face. I wished---- that I never became a guardian in the first place.
"I take it back...." I said softly.
I cried, thinking of what I would do without Riley. I cried thinking of what I would do without the castle, or the title of a guardian. I cried because I just wished I wasn't scared and alone.
