Inferno

-------------------------------------------------

A wrapped-up child cries in the dustbin,

Packs of stray dogs howl and grin,

Passers-by pass by, expressionless faces,

No time to rescue or think who disgraces.

A girl child of five still ignorant of her sex

Runs to the bushy meadow, glow-worms to catch,

Some animals 'in God's face' under veil of gloom

Ravishes her womb and pisses on her tomb.

Lumps of burnt flesh scattering over the street,

Blood-stained walls and disjointed feet,

Mothers wail, brothers gaze, tear-stained eyes,

'Freedom-fighters' take innoent lives and victimize.

There speaks the politician sitting on his chair,

"Bribery I know not, I live by means fair".

He waits until nation's politics is in clash

And opens up the backdoor to accept all cash.

Look at the rickshaw-puller whose back perspires,

A graduate he is who had burning desires.

His sister lost virginity compelled by poverty,

Five souls exist on the losing of her sanctity.

Is the Hell in place or slipped down to earth?

Infernal fire has engulfed our glee and mirth.

God must be fiddling with toys in Heaven,

Blind to humanity as He feels no pain.

It is high time a prophet should be born

To save the distressed and the forlorn.

Wait till God grows long white beard,

Teardrops dry and our prayers are heard.
