"So I heard you almost fainted in class today", that was the first thing Alex told me when I found him leaning against my locker, right after I wandered out of Jen's office.
"Who told you that?", I asked him as I placed my economics textbook in my locker and slammed it shut.
"Oh you know, just somebody..", he replied waving my question off.
Rolling my eyes, I walked towards the cafeteria, with Alex on my heels.
"Excuse me, Madison? You didn't just roll your eyes at me", Alex growled, his eyes narrowed onto mine.
Once again I rolled them, causing him to let out a frustrated sigh.
I smirked. I just loved annoying people.
That habit of yours will land you in trouble one day.
Once again I rolled my eyes, muttering, "shut up".
"Are you talking to your self?", Alex stared at me with a weirded-out look.
"Umm, hello? Is there anyone better to talk to here, anyways?", I smirked at him, as I threw a jab at him.
"Please, anyone would love to talk to me. I'm such an amazing person", Alex popped his imaginary collar, earning a laugh out of me.
"Sure, sure. Keep dreaming."
"Fine, you don't believe me? Let's hangout today after school and then you can see how much of an amazing person I am."
"Cocky much?", I questioned, "Alright then meet you after school."
"Where are you going now?"
"Away from you", I poked my tongue out at him and walked away. Ignoring him calling out my name, I walked straight out of the school doors and to a place nobody could find me. Or so I thought.
--------------------------------------------
There was a place behind the school building where no one ventured out to. There was a huge patch of garden out there and dab middle of that was an apple tree, under which I would spend most of my free time at school.
It was my sort-of a getaway place, when I would get tired of the school drama, I would head here.
It was perfect as no one came to this part of the school. It was isolated and just what I needed. Nobody even knew about this place, as far as I knew. Nobody except Cade and I, that is.
I walked towards the tree and sat under it, staring across the clear, blue sky.
Opening my backpack, I took out a brown paper bag, that held my lunch.
I had packed Nutella sandwiches and a
Strawberry flavoured yogurt, with a bottle of water for myself, the night before. As I was setting aside the foil, which I had wrapped my sandwiches in, I heard the breaking of a twig. Suddenly, I heard a heavy object land besides me, from the tree from above me.
Letting out a shriek of horror, I snapped my head to the direction of the disruption so fast, that I almost got a whiplash.
"Oh my god! What are you doing here?"
"Oh good, you have some food. I'm absolutely starving", Tristan O'Neil stated as he went on to have a seat besides me on the floor, before grabbing the sandwiches out of my hand and proceeding to eat them.
"Excuse me? Tristan?"
"Hello"
"What were you doing up there?", I asked rolling my eyes at his response.
"That's a question I should be asking you", he said as he turned to face me,"What are you doing here?"
"I usually come here. It's my getaway place", I told him, leaning against the tree bark, and turning my face towards the sky.
"It's my place", he argued, emphasising on it being his place.
"Since when?", I gave a short laugh.
"Since forever. What about you?"
"Well, since I've started this school, I got to know about that how no one comes here, so I decided that this will be my place from then on."
"You don't like being around people?", he asked, quirking a brow.
"No, I'm a kind of introvert person."
"Doesn't seem like", he smirked.
I rolled my eyes at him, and gave him a shove in the shoulder.
He looked surprised for a moment, before he quickly changed expressions to his usual cold look.
"God, I hate people", he told me.
"Really? Doesn't seem like", I mimicked him.
"Well you're a different case", Tristan stated," I don't hate you."
"Ooooohh", I rubbed my hands together and looked at him," wow, what makes me so special. The great Tristan O'Neil doesn't hate me."
Tristan chuckled at my behaviour, and I couldn't help but love the raspy sound.
"You, Madison, intrigue me. You're not like those other girls who throw themselves at me. Or for a fact, at any other guy. I can't help but get curious. I've been watching you, you know."
He looked at me from underneath his lashes, and I almost died. God, how was he so good- looking?
"Should I be scared?", I joked.
"Yeah, you should.", he told me seriously.
"I can't help but ask you, why are you dating that King kid? He isn't a nice guy, you know."
I shrugged, "Ever heard of the term, don't judge a book by its cover?"
"Oh, I assure you I'm not judging him. I know what kind of a person Alexander King is.", he told me, clenching his jaw.
"Maybe he's changed?"
"People like him don't change, Madison.", Tristan replied.
"I'm gonna figure you out", he suddenly said, leaning close to me.
My heart thudded fast in my chest, and I couldn't help be scared, just like he told me.
Just then the bell rung, and I pushed him away, breathing out deeply.
I hurriedly packed my bag, as Tristan watched me with hooded eyes, as if he could hear the loud beating of my heart.
"Maybe you wouldn't get enough time to.", that was the last thing I told him, before I sprinted out of the place, and walked through the school doors.
