Chapter 14: Too Late

*Next Morning*

I dragged myself to the cave Maui decided to stay in. He was already out and about, collecting fruits from the near by tree. He saw me approach and had the biggest smile on his face.

That broke me more, knowing I would be wiping that smile from his face when he hears what happened.

*Flashback*
 
"Ok Crystal, what's the news?"
She looked calmly at me and said, " Remember I had that crush on Roctu?"
I nodded my head, not really knowing where she's getting at.

Roctu was the guy Crystal liked since she was 10, and the main reason people started to pick on her. A girl in the village named Mia liked Roctu also and used rumors to scare him and other guys from her.

She was so heartbroken when she found out Mia and Roctu became a couple. So why is she bringing him up now?

"Well, I had went to the village to restock my shelves when I ran into him on the way home. He started up a conversation and I found out that him and Mia aren't together anymore.

It was nice catching up with him, but the craziest thing happened. He asked me to the Harvest Festival!"

I just stood there shock, looking at Crystal in disbelief. How could this happen? I was supposed to get her and Maui together!?!?!?

"Isn't that crazy Momo?....Mo?....MOANA!?!?"

I snapped out of my thoughts. "Huh? Oh yea, that's crazy! Hey, ummm, I forgot that my mom wanted me home soon. I'll catch up with you later Cryst."

I hugged her and left her house. This is such a disaster!"

*Present*

"Hey Moana! So, did you fins out if it was possible to go with her?"

I sighed and sat on a rock near him. He could sense something was wrong and sat on the ground in front of me. I took a deep breathe and spoke.

*Maui's POV*

She took a deep breathe and spoke. "Maui, I'm sorry but.....you're too late."

My heart started to pound, "Moana, what happened? How am I too late?"
She told me the whole story about her running around the village trying to find Crystal up to the part where she heard about Crystal's encounter with this Roctu character.

My blood boiled at the fact someone was taking Crystal...no, MY Crystal to the festival.

"I'm so sorry Maui, I tried-"

"It's not your fault Curly. I was too much of a coward, I could've asked her myself. Thank you for all you've done."

I stood up and hugged her to make her feel better. We pulled apart and I transformed into a hawk and flew away to clear my head.

'I can't believe this is happening. I just wanted to be with her, to even tell her my feelings for her......but now I won't get the chance to.'
