Chapter 15 : Misunderstanding

*Crystal's POV*

I'm going to go take a stroll on the beach today, but I really wanted to find Maui. I wanted to hang with him today, but he's nowhere in sight.

I began to reach a more isolated and abandoned part of the island. As I got closer I could hear the sound of snoring.

I followed the sound and in front of me is a sleeping Maui. I crept up on him and kissed his cheek. He started to smile so I just placed soft, delicate kisses all over his face.

He started to laugh softly and make kissy faces in his sleep. 'Awwwww'.
As I'm trying to wake him up with my kisses, he grabs me in his sleep and holds me like a teddy bear.

I couldn't help but to giggle at his cuteness. I snuggled in the crook of his neck and continue to try and wake him up.

I shook him and I saw his eyes flutter a bit, but he continued to sleep. 'Hmmmm, how can I wake him? Oh! I know!'

I dug in the basket that I brought with me and put a bun underneath his nose......didn't work. Now I'm frustrated.

"Ugh! Maui will you wake up." I said shaking him. He just held me tighter....which I didn't mind of course *wink* *wink*.

I gave up and just layed there in his arms. I looked at his sleeping form and did what I always wanted to do.

I reached up and ran my hand through his hair. Just then a hand shot up and grabbed my wrist. I looked at Maui and he was looking at me weirdly.

"Crystal? What are you doing here?"

His grip was hurting me and I couldn't help but whimper. "Maui, my wrist it hurts."

His face had a look of panic and he soften his grip and kissed my wrist. This gave me goosebumps and I know I'm probably blushing extremely hard.

"I'm sorry Cryst, I didn't mean to hurt you. I don't know my own strength somethimes. Are you ok?"

I gave him a smiled and a reassuring nod. I leaned into him and wrapped my arms around him, smiling in his chest.

I felt that he stiffened at first but relaxed into the hug. "How you been Maui?"

"I've been ok. How bout you? What you've been up to?"

"Just been getting ready for the Harvest Festival, do you know about it?" I looked up at him and frowned. He looked sad and it broke my heart to see him that way.

"Yea I heard of it." And with that he got up and started to walk away from where he was sleeping at.

"Maui? Are you alrig-"

"And I know you have a date to go with. I'm happy for you." I can tell her was upset at this.......wait what did he say!?!?!?

"Uhhhhh, what are you talking about Maui?"

He turned around and gave me an "are you kidding" look. "Moana told me you're going with some old crush of yours."
It was quiet for a moment, but was interrupted by the sound of my laughter.

"Maui, there was a misunderstanding."

He crossed his arms and raised his eyebrow, "And what is the misunderstanding Crystal? It was clear, he asked you to the festival."

I calmed myself from laughing and smiled at him, " This is correct, he did ask me."

He seemed frustrated and confused. "Ok, then what's the misunderstanding then?"

I started to giggle a bit and answered, "That doesn't mean that I said yes."

*Maui's POV*

Wait what?

"Wait....you said no?" She nodded her head, amused at my reaction. I had the biggest smile on my face and felt as if my heart was put back together again. But I was still a bit confused.

"I still don't understand. If you had a crush on him, why did you say no?"

"Maui, keyword; had. I don't feel that way about him anymore. And to clarify why Momo thought that i was going with him is because after I told her he asked me, she left. I never got to tell her that I rejected him."

My heart was soaring above the clouds and the biggest relief came over me. I don't know what was the biggest relief; saving the world and restoring the heart or knowing that she told him no and I still have a chance with her.

"Oh my goodness Crystal, that's wonderful news." I knelt in front of her and grabbed her hands, the asked, "Would you be my date to the festival?"

She squealed and jumped into my arms.

"Yes Maui, I will!"
