The rain poured outside the living room window. Even though there was the occasional thunder and lightning, I still called. I needed to know that he was okay. The phone rang again, finally he picked up.
"Hello darling." His causal voice calmed me a bit. "Hi dad. I just wanted to know when are you coming home?"
"Don't worry, darling I''ll be ready to leave in 5 minutes and on my way home. I promise." I sighed with relieve. I could hear my father suddenly shift. "Sorry, darling I need to go. I love you, bye." He said haslily. "I love you too Dad, bye. " I replied smiling with gladness.Dad hung up.
About 4 hours later there was a knock on the door. It was strange for dad to knock but I assumed he forget his key again. I rushed to open the door only to be met by Jonathan, father's very young (who was only six years older then me being 21) sidekick. Confused as to why he was here so late and in the storm, I let him in with a questioning look on my face.
Only then did I noticed the two policemen standing behind him, now I was starting to get scared. "My dad isn't here Joe, he is still on his way. " I said my voice shaking. "I know he isn't here , Paige. Sit down please." He replied and I obeyed. "Joe, why are you here? What's going on,"
"Your dad isn't coming home Paige." he said suddenly sympathetic. I was confused and still didn't get what he was saying. "What do you mean? Is he going on another trip?"
Jonathon looked into my eyes. There was something in his eyes I couldn't read.. "Your father is dead."
