*Victor POV *
It was time. I cancelled the last two appointments before this so that I could prepare for this. I now knew what and who I was dealing with. But I didn't like this one bit.

If she kept snooping around she might uncover the truth and I was not about to flush 10 years of work down the toilet because of one girl.

A knock was at the door and Paige's walked in. I indicated a seat in front of me and said, "Please sit down, Miss Evans." She groaned, showing me that my sources were correct. "I didn't want you to found out like this. I would have told you." she said as she sat down.

"Why," I asked, "so that you can seem like a women who was trying to protect the community instead of a sad kid who will blame anyone suspicious because it was her father that died."

Paige's eyes went so wide, she made me wonder if I was actually right and wasn't some nonsense  I made up to keep her from   asking questions that could lead to  the truth.

"Is that really what you think?" she asked, clearly shocked. "Maybe, just maybe, I actually just want to know what happened to my dad, like every caring daughter would do!" I gulped but didn't let her see. I could clearly see she was furious.

Before I could say anything else, she stormed put of my office. I sighed, "I'm not really a bad person, she clearly wanted to find out, but she was dangerously close to ruining me.

I hated what I did years ago, but really, I had just gotten over the guilt now it was coming but again. I thought of my two boys back home. If I was murdered, I probably would have wanted them to know what happened. But it wasn't me that was dead. It was that bastard; Byron Evans.

Nothing I could or would do about that anymore, I had others to protect.
