Turns out Adrian was also studying law but was working his way to become a lawyer. When I commented that he would be a pretty young lawyer, he replied that he was a fast learner and his parents told him he should use his talent to be unique and his professors said he was a bright student. When I asked how old he was, he just told me to stop being so forward on our first date. Instead of denying this being a date like a normal girl would, I just blushed. "So Paige...that's Latin?" he asked.
"No, it's actually French. My father said my mother loved the language and wanted her first child to have a French name, so my father picked Paige because it means young assistant." I paused and then laughed, "It's funny I always wanted to be a chef but my father always wanted me to work with him as an assistant."
He nodded and smiled, "A chef hey? Can you cook?"
"I used to, now I just burn water." I joked. He laughed before saying, "I'm sure your dad is proud of you. " he said. My smile dimmed, "My dad died a few years back and my mom died when I was about two years old." He looked sincerely sympatheti," I'm sorry." he said before taking my hand and rubbing it with one of his thumbs."So," I said to change the topic and to distract myself from his rubbing. "What does Adrian mean?" he let out a cute chuckle, "It means rich." I busted out laughing. "I'm serious. " he said "there's no big story involved but my father did hope I would live up to my name and I'm working on it."
"What would you do with your money, Mr Rich."
"You need to stop being so forward. I have a nickname already?" I just smiled and blushed, again, which I seemed to be doing a lot of today, as he continued, "Don't worry I plan to spend all that money wisely to help my small town where I grew up and love dearly."Nice, the guy had morals and wasn't self-centred, I like him already. Woah, what was I saying. I didn't even know him and this wasn't a date." I kept reminding myself. Still, I couldn't help myself from going through everything positive that he had told me, so much for this not being a date. As my lunch break ended, I had to leave. Adrian agreed he had to too. "This really is the best cafe ever. I look forward to meeting you again, assistant. " I smiled at the nickname before hearing what he had said. "Again? I thought it was just this one time because you owed you?" Not that I would mind seeing you again.
He smiled with his perfect teeth, "We'll now it's my turn to owe you as I stole your second muffin without you noticing." I looked down at my plate and realized that I had only eaten one and it was now empty. Normally I would have killed whoever had stolen my other but I was properly to busy staring into his beautiful eyes to notice. "Alright, I have lunch the same time tomorrow. I could meet you here again, but you're paying." He laughed and said, "It will be my pleasure." before walking out the door.
