Irene

Two months later

I was combing my hair, while Anastasia was laying on her bed reading a book.

It was a really tiring day for both of us. We and our mother visited Lydia's house in order to clean it. Now that Lydia was nine months pregnant and had returned to her house, because Andrew had come back too, my mother said that we had to clean the house at least once a week in order to be ready for the baby. Lydia couldn't do many things, she was getting tired with the easiest things and she was sleeping a lot.

We couldn't wait to meet the little one, we were getting more and more impatient every day. Of course we were trying to hide our happiness in front of mrs Persephone, because she believed that it was very early for Lydia to give birth.

To be honest, it was a little early for the birth. We had at least 15 to 20 days until that day. But my mother wanted to be sure that everything would be ready for her grandson to come, although we didn't know the gender yet.

When we were discussing about the baby's gender and mrs Persephone asked Lydia if she wanted a boy or a girl she had answered that she didn't mind, she just wanted a healthy baby. Andrew answered that he didn't care too, he seemed very careless for a future father, but I believed that he would love the baby a lot after the labour.

Something else that had made us very glad was Dimitri's return. Thank goodness he came back healthy and made us very happy, especially my mother. When we saw him for first time, the scene was very emotional, but the most emotional scene was between him and Lydia.

He said to her that he was so sorry that he wasn't here to help her and she was forced to marry Andrew. But he couldn't do anything.. and I didn't think that Lydia was very unhappy with Andrew. Maybe he seemed cold and careless and Dimitri was saying very bad words for him, but Lydia seemed that she was living well enough with him.

Everyone from our family had noticed that Dimitri was more mature than before. The war had made him stronger and more mature, I hadn't almost recognise my brother, but I was very proud of him. Not only me but all of us.

I was about to lay on my bed, when I heared a noise coming from the window. I swivelled around and looked there. The same noise was heared again, it was a little stone that someone had thrown on our window.

"What was that??" Anastasia asked

"Someone threw a stone to the window. I will go to see who is down there." I asnwered and approached the window.

I saw my childhood friend Phoebe standing next to our door. He was moving his hands telling me to open the door.

Phoebe was living to the house next to ours. He was in the same age with me and we grew up together. He was also a close friend to Viktoria and Sofia and sometimes he was joining our small gang too. He couldn't hang out only wity girls, he was friend with boys too.

"Who is it?" Anastasia asked

"Phoebe." I answered

"Is he crazy?? What is he doing here so late?? Germans are doing patrols all the time!! If they catch him walking around after the curfew, he will get into big trouble!!" Anastasia said worriedly

"I'm going to open the door immediately!!" I said and ran outside the room.

I went to the door and opened it, he entered the house quickly and after checking that nobody had seen him I closed it again.

"Are you sure that nobody saw you coming??" I asked

"Yes I'm sure. I was checking all the time while I was coming, don't worry.." he said
