Chapter 27 "Thoughts"

I woke up from a soft shake in my shoulder.

"Mommy.." I heared someone whispering

I opened my eyes and saw Markella kneeled beside me on the bed.

"Mommy wake up.." she whispered again

"Sweetheart.. what are you doing here??" I asked her sleepily

"It's morning.." she answered

"So??" I rubbed my forehead

"It's the day..!!" She said

I looked at her curiously. My mind was still foggy, because I had just woken up and because what had happened the previous night.

"Mom don't you remember what day is today??" She asked ready to cry

I thought about it for a few seconds.

As reality came to my mind, my eyes widened a little.

Oh dear!!

I was about to forget my child's birthday!!

I sat up quickly on the bed and took her on my lap.

"No my love!! Of course I remember what is it today!! How is possible to forget??" I said caressing her hair and kissing her forehead

She hugged me back immediately.

"Happy birthday my love!! Happy birthday my sunshine!! I wish you to be healthy and happy always, to make all of your dreams come true!!" I said happily

I rocked her back and forth.

Six years after I gave birth to her.

Six whole years.. how did the time pass so quickly??

When she was born she was just a small and beautiful baby that was always in my arms. I was never leaving her.

Now she was a little cute miss and she was going to school.

My heart was full of melancholy at the thought of her growing up and leaving one day.

One day she would get married and she would create her own family.

I would have to be seperated from her. I knew she would always love me and take care of me, but she would have her own family too.

I would be alone..

If only I had Mark with me.. we would be together and we would see our daughter growing up and being happy.

Maybe we would have more children too..

We would savor life, maybe we would face some difficulties like every person, but we would be together.

"When did you grow up so much??" I asked her placing a kiss on her hair

"I don't know.." she said smiling

I giggled at her words.

"Will we be having a party tonight, right mama??" She asked

"Yes.. we are going to celebrate your birthday..!!" I said

Well not exactly a party. All the family would be together. We would invite my uncle, aunt and cousins and there was a possibility for John, Vicky, her parents and the children to visit us just for today in order to celebrate Markella's birthday.

To be honest I wasn't ready yet to see Peter and Anastasia. I couldn't do otherwise, I had to spend time with them at night because of the party, but I just needed a little more time without them.
