Hidden Essence

Chapter 9

I woke up that morning still in Bryan's arm's. But now we were face to face. As if he could feel me looking at him he opened his eyes. They were so incredible i could stare at them forever. But then my gaze went to his lips. Even though we were dating we hadn't kissed yet. Right now i was wondering what they felt like against mine. I have this urge to reach out and pull him to me, but afraid it wouldn't feel right. I had to restrain myself, and i swear he could read my mind also. Because he leaned his head a little closer so that our lips were just an inch a part. Then he brushed them against mine and i felt an electric shock that made me lean in fully.

It started out kinda soft and slow as if to savor each moment. But then my wolf took over and i made the kiss deepen. It now had more meaning and felt real. For a moment i could believe what was going on until i felt his hand on the small of my back while electricity shot through me. I rolled over on top of him wanting more. He got the hint as i bit down on his lip and moaned. He rolled me over so he was on top. Everywhere he touched felt like fire. Our bodies fit together like one. Bryan deepened the kiss even more and with one hand tangled on my hair and the other on my hip a moan escaped my lips, when we heard a scream.

I moved my head away and asked Bryan "Did you hear that?"

"Ya and i have a bad feeling." He replied.

We got up and looked around to see Skylar and Mic behind some trees. "What the hell are you doing Sophie!?" Skylar yelled at me.

"Well i was making out with my boyfriend." I said to her.

"Are you insane he is a Fucking vampire!?" Mic yelled at me.

"No i am not insane, and i know he is, he is my boyfriend so please get the fuck out of my business Mic!" I yelled at him.

"Vampires a re our enemies Sophie, how could you be so stupid as to befriend one let alone date one!" Skylar yelled.

"What!?" i yelled back at her.

"You have to break up with him or i will kill him." Mic said to me.

I hadn't realized Bryan was behind me but when Mic threatened him something changed inside me. I pushed Bryan back from me and turned towards Mic and said in a low voice, "Over my dead body Mic." 

With that i shifted and attacked Mic. He transformed into a red wolf, as I bit down on his leg and pissed him off. He bit my back right leg, i let out a yelp because he had bitten my scar. Bryan head the pain in my voice and ran to help me, but Skylar changed and jumped onto him. Mic had me up against a tree now both of us snarling with blood dripping from our mouths. Then with all my strength i jumped up and came down biting his back. Not hard enough to kill him but enough to hurt like a bitch. He fell to the ground limp and Skylar ran to his side. they both changed back along with me.

"Don't ever threaten me or Bryan again. He is my choice and no else's." I stated.

"I am in charge, i will say what happens in this pack. For no i am in charge and you will listen to me." Mic said to me. With that him and Skylar left with a dangerous look in their eyes.

I fell to the ground next to a bolder and hugged my knees to my chest. I couldn't believe what had just happened. Why were they so angry at me? I was dating Bryan that was my choice.

"Hey" Bryan said as he sat down next to me, "I know your upset but you had every right to say what you did." 

"No, i didn't he is our Alpha's son and our Alpha while we are here. I have to listen to him. His orders have to be obeyed. It's in our gene's we are not able to go against them." I said to him.  

"Yet you just did." He said to me.

He had a point, but our genes weren't supposed to let us. "I dont understand he was appointed our alpha, how could this happen?" I asked confused. I had been lost in my thoughts when i realized i was covered in Mic's blood and for some reason i could smell it stronger now than in wolf form.

"I think you were right." He said to me.

"About what?" I asked.

"You said your alpha said you were special and he was right. When you snapped at Mic then and didn't obey his orders you proved what they were saying yesterday. Who you were before is coming back to you." He replied.

"Will you help me?" I asked him.

"Till the end of time." He said to me. Then he picked me up and carried me back to campus. When we got to the girls dorm no one was in the lobby so he carried me up to my room and laid me in my bed. When he turned to leave i grabbed his hand and asked him to stay. He climbed in next to me and i laid my head on his chest. His arms were wrapped tightly around me as i fell back to sleep. I slept better next to him than i ever had in the past. I could feel his chest move up and down, it felt right laying here next to him.

It felt like forever when the door busted open and woke us both up. We sat up to see a laughing Katy on her bed. "You two are so cute together!" She said then she noticed the blood. "Holy shit Sophie what happened?!"

I looked at Bryan to see what i should say. "You should tell her the truth she may be in danger." He said.

"Ok, i am confused i know Bryan is a vampire but Sophie what are you?" She asked me.

"I am a werewolf, i got in a fight with my standing alpha, and because you are my friend you may be in danger."

"Well this makes since now." She replied.

"What does?" I asked her.

"My sense of smell was picking up a dog scent all this time. You see i am a vampire also so my nose picks up smells stronger. I thought something was off about you." She said. "And i didn't want to tell you one, cause i thought you wouldn't be my friend and two, because i knew something was different and i couldn't  figure out what."

"Wow once again didn't see that coming, and that explains why you are so pale compared to normal. Since i didnt know why my gut was telling me to keep an eye on you, wait are we still friends?" i asked.

"Ya , but we can't let the other students here know what you are they hate werewolves with a passion." She said to me. As she was talking i smelled something burning, and i instantly knew where it was. "Bryan i think there is a fire in the woods where we were earlier." I said to him.

"How do you know that?" He asked me.

"I dont know but climb on my back i will take us there." I said as i shifted.

"Wow damn you big Sophie!" Katy said to me.

"Ya but dont piss her off, i saw the fight and damn." Bryan said to her while chuckling.

When they got on my back i jumped out the window, when i hit the ground i took off running. Once i hit the tree line i gave it everything i had, i could feel there hands tighten around my fur. The tree's smelt of ash and death. the heat started to sting my eyes and then a tree fell in front of me i just barley missed it. I stopped just short of the fire and let Katy and Bryan off so i could shift back. "Go get help now that you know where it is, i am going to go to see where it started." I said to them.

Bryan pulled me into a kiss then pulled away and said "Be careful please." 

"I promise now go ill be here." I said as i turned to run deeper into the woods. I had a feeling of who started this and they may still be there. I ran until i found the spot where our fight had happened. I could see where the fire started and just a few foot prints in the ash as if someone other than me had come to this spot after the fire moved on.

They finally came back with help for which i was grateful of. I could not find the strength to get up i had searched for a while for the source and had inhaled to much smoke. Once Bryan was next to me i went to give him a hug and fainted in his arms.
