Hidden Essence

Chapter 14

I couldn't believe it. The picture was from two years ago and that was clearly me in there. "Bryan........" I said as i looked up at him. "Do you see that?"

"Ya i do but i don't understand" He said astonished. 

"Is this what they were trying to hide from me?" i asked out loud still in shock from what i was looking at. We sat there just staring at the picture for i don't know how long. I don't understand if this was me why would Alpha send me here?Wouldn't it be.... Sophie its already dark out we need to get going." He said. AS i looked out the window I saw he was right. We had been here for a while. I got up and picked the book up and brought it with me. Bryan lead me back to my dorm but i didn't realize it till we were at my room because i was stuck in my head while it swarmed with questions.

"Hey ill be here in the morning to make sure your alright." He said to me. "Ok, thanks." I said feeling exhausted all of a sudden. "Get some sleep and don't read the book anymore." He told me, than took me in his arms and held me tight.

When i got inside i changed as fast as i could. Then i hid the book in my dresser and crawled into my bed. Sleep did not come easy i had nightmares all night. In one i was running but not away from something, towards something. I kept running and running but was never able to get close enough. Then all of a sudden Skylar jumps out and rips my head off and i wake up screaming. This kept happening all night  and in the morning i swear i looked five years older.

"Sophie are you alright?" Katy asked me. All i could do was get the book and show her the picture. When she looked at it i saw her jaw drop. I could not tell what she was thinking and how could i ask, my words did not want to come to me. 

"Sophie is this you?" She asked me. I nodded my head yes. "Wow i cant believe it took you look exactly the same. This had to be taken just a few years ago." She exclaimed. Right then we heard a knock on the door. I went to and got it when i opened it is saw Bryan and i fell into his arms with tears coming down my face. "It's ok we will figure it out Sophie." He said to me while whispering in my ear. "Now come on and lets get your bag we are going to be late."

Walking to class was miserable, the cold usually doesn't bother me but today it was dragging me down. My Italian class went by pretty fast. I wasn't really paying much attention, i was reading the history of Goldstone academy. I had slipped it into my bag this morning. I still couldn't comprehend why i was in the picture. All i could do was stare at it, but then the class was over and i was off to world history. 

I was in a daze while walking to class then Katy caught up to me. "Yo speedy, mind slowing down for a second?" She asked jokingly. "Sorry must be in my own little world." I replied. 

"It's fine so how are you doing?" She asked me. "I saw you in class and i know what you were staring at."

"I dont know really. It feels like my life has been turned upside down again." I told her. As i finished speaking she grabbed my arm arm and pulled me into a small hallway. We walked all the way down to the T at the end and turned left.  "Where are we going?" I asked her. "Shh not yet." She said to me.

There were only three doors down this hallway and Katy took the second one on the right. Inside was a staircase that wound straight up. Normally i wouldn't be skipping class but something told me to keep going. Once we were at the top i realized we were in the attic of this part of the school. 

"Okay so what where you saying again?" she asked. 

"Well i said it feels like my life has been turned upside down again. I already told you about my attack, but i haven't told you what i told Bryan." I said while sitting down on the ground. "Every night i dream about my attack, and now things are starting to come into focus. When i am running i see Skylar fall behind since i was able to run faster. I went back to help her when Mic jumped out of the darkness and pounced on my leg. I couldn't remember Mic before but i do now. I think you might know this, but when Bryan and I were checking out where Jack was attacked we over heard Mic and Skylar saying they were glad Skylar had set me up and how they where able to erase my memory. Now i see my picture in this book, nothing makes since right now." I said then pulled my legs to my chest and laid my head on my knees.
