Chapter four: My Powers

“Alright,” Alpha (that’s Ethan, I'm going to start to call him “Alpha” now) started, “concentrate your energy on that tree.  Put your anger towards it. If it works, this test will confirm if you can bend the elements. Fire is the easiest because it radiates towards anger.”

I think of my old pack and everyone in it and then the fire burns a bright blue flame. “That’s a rare color of flame. Nobody in our pack can bend fire.” Alpha said with amazement. We did 6 other trials and found out that I could bend 8 things. I could bend water / ice / blood, air, fire / lightening, earth / metal.  I learned that I could only bend the elements with my hands and feet.  My favorite thing to bend was lightening because the process of making the lightening comes from within, just like fire.  Blood bending was the scariest of all because I could control people like a puppet. I didn’t want to become a monster, but if it was necessary, then I could control anything with blood against their will.

“Now that I know that you have a power, we will train you to become superior and unbeatable. You will be able to control your powers with my training.  Your confidence will be much better and so will your fighting skills. You will get in shape and remain in shape. Do you want to officially join the Pure Elite pack? ” Alpha said.

“Yes! Oh my god, thank you so much!” I exclaim with tears of joy pouring out of my eyes. I can't believe that another pack would accept me. We walked up stairs to my new room

“Ok, these are the rules:

1. You will get a weekly allowance of $1,500 from the Werewolf Council; they organize the missions we do.  You will also get $10,000 for every mission you do successfully.
2. You may not harm anybody in the Pure Elite Pack unless you are training.
3. You must train to become a fighter.
4. If we have a mission you must come with us.
5. If you kill any pack member you will be killed.
6. If you betray the Pure Elite Pack, you will be killed.
And those are all the rules.” Alpha said. 

We passed a mirror and I couldn’t believe my eyes; I was actually pretty. I was taller, tanner, and thinner.  My dark brown hair had lightened a few shades and cascaded down my back in graceful waves.

“Done admiring your new self?” a feminine voice asked. I turn around to look at her. She was very pretty; bright blue eyes and dark brown hair, almost black.

“How did you know?”

 “By the way you were looking at yourself. I'm Shay Parker and 16. I can duplicate myself.” Shay said.

“Cool. I'm Rebekah Mathis; Bek for short and also 16. Today was my birthday. I can bend the elements with a few compromises.” I say.

“What compromises?”

“I can bend lightening, metal, and blood.” I say, whispering the last part.

“OMG! BENDING BLOOD MUST BE S-” I cut her off.

“How did you hear me? I swear I whispered that last part to myself.” I asked confused.

“Werewolf hearing. It also applies to you.” Shay said. “Sooo . . . about this pack well you see, there are only 4 other members, not including me, you, that are in this pack.  The qualifications are very difficult. What makes us so elite is that we are immune to Wolfsbane and silver, have supernatural powers, and are white wolves.  That’s why there are so little of us, but we do can do a lot of damage . . .”

I learned that there were only three girls, Ali, Shay, and me, and three boys in the pack, Tyler, Alpha, and Ryder, and that Shay lost her mate by hunters. A tear slipped out of her eye, but she quickly wiped it away.  She then ran into Alpha Roberts and she did the trials to become one of the Pure Elite.  Alpha could create illusion, take away the senses, and sense supernatural powers. OH, that’s why he told me to try to fire bend. He could detect that I could bend the elements. Tyler and Ryder Vix are brothers. Tyler can inflict horrendous amounts of pain with a glare, but not to the point of death; he can't kill somebody by inducing pain; Ryder can freeze or slow down time.  Ali could control or affect the weather with her mind. Alpha taught them how to control their powers and trained them to be the best fighters in human and wolf form.

I told Shay about me being bullied and abused, my mate rejecting me in front of the whole school, and running away.  Then I told her about how I met Alpha up until now.

“And that’s my story” I say with a sad smile. Thinking about all the bad memories makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry, but they don’t deserve my tears.

As we go down the stairs, I see faces, 3 new ones in fact.  They introduced themselves one by one and said their power and age; Tyler and Ryder were both 20 and Ali was 17.  I told them my power, my age and my story.  I wasn’t expecting them to accept me right away but they did, and I am grateful for it. Tyler, Ryder, and Ali pulled me into a bone-crushing embrace.

“Welcome to the family” they said in unison.
