A lot of people have been commenting on the inspiration for their powers. Yes, their powers are inspired by the show Avatar: The Last Airbender (goddddd i fucking love that show) and Twilight (that movie was nasty). Some people have said X-Men, but I've never seen that movie nor have I taken the time to google the powers of the people in that movie.
