I folded my hands over each other multiple times, trying to calm my nerves I always have, even though I know I'm going to do great. Along with my best friend, Jayda Dargo, of course. If I didn't have her by my side, I would never be doing what I'm doing.
"Dargo! Keddington! Stage Ready!"
When our names were called my stomach did a flip and I took another deep breath. Jayda and I matched our gazes and we gave each other a reassuring smile.
We went to where our names were called and waited until the stage manager waved us on and our entry music was cued.
I smoothed out my skirt one last time and Jayda and I bounced out, my brown hair springing up and down, Jayda's flowing out behind her in a blond curtain. We both smiled uncontrollably once we saw the crowd of around one hundred and made our way to the cream colored couches to where Julie Smithson - the British equivalent of Ellen DeGeneres - was smiling back at us, her face glowing.
"Ellie! Jayda!" Julie said, standing up. She hugged us both and we waved at the crowd, more or less where the camera would pick us up. We took a seat on the couch, our hips bouncing off each other and I giggled under my breath.
After the crowd died down and Julie attached small mics to our shirts and she gave us a smile and started talking. "Wow, I'm so thrilled to meet you guys!"
Jayda glanced at me and replied, "We could say the same!"
The host continued, "After I heard you guys, I immediatly became a fan." She adjusted her posture. "And a few days after I first heard about you, a co - worker showed me a video of you guys singing 'Set Fire to the Rain' and before the video was even over, I told her we had to get you guys on the show."
"Thank you!" I told her, beaming, both Jayda and I blushing at the sudden compliment.
The crowd started clapping again so Julie waited a moment until she continued talking. "So before I get any further, I have to ask," she grinned at the crowd and camera, "Are you dating anyone?"
I blushed and nudged Jayda, "You go first."
She immediatly spoke up, "Just ended a relationship," she said and winked at the camera, "So I'm avalible."
The crowd cracked a laugh and the few younger guys in the crowd hollared a little.
Julie smiled at Jayda and her gaze shifted to me, "And you?"
"Single," I said quietly, my stage fright kicking in.
Julie seemed to catch on and said, "Hear that guys? These two ladies are single."
The guys hollared again and Julie went off the relationship topic.
"So, now on to your music. How did you guys meet? Or more or less create LivLoud?"
I grinned at the sound of Jayda's and I's band name. "Well, we've been friends for a long time. We back when we were under four foot, and we grew up singing. Singing along to the radio in the car, CD's, pretty much anything we heard."
Jayda took over. "Finally, a few months ago, one of our friends who heard us singing at school one day, and out of the blue, said, "Why don't you guys start a band?""
She took a deep breath and went on, "Both Ellie and I liked the idea, but didn't like it enough to actually try it. Until one day, that same friend tried to convince us again and said, "You guys are amazing. Your voices are amazing. Life your life. Sing loud. Live Loud!" and that's when Ellie and I agreed, using our friend's words as our band name."
Julie smiled as Jayda finished, "Wow. Amazing story, girls. How do you choose what you sing, since we all know you don't have any original songs out. Yet," she winked.
"We sing every song that reaches the Top 20 list and post it on YouTube. Since the song seems to be on high demand, we figured we could put our own twist on the song, and see how it worked," Jayda explained, using hand motions every now and then.
I added, "And, I have been working on original songs. I'm hoping that they turn out good and the fans will like them!"
Julie clasped her hands together, "Hear that guys? Original songs are on the way!"
The crowd started clapping and of course, the guys started screaming again.
"So, I have one more question," grinned Julie, "Will you sing for us?"
Jayda and I looked at each other and smiled. "Yes."
