Chapter Thirty Two

Flashback - Thirteen Years Old

The day is getting closer and closer with every smile that spreads across my face, every sound of laughter that leaves my lips, and with every beat of my heart. I treasure every second i'm with the guys, whether that's watching a movie in the basement, running around in the garden, or out and about doing the many activities Uncle and Johnny planned for us.

In between all that, Cara managed to arrange this Happily Ever After party. She even managed to get me a dress; a beautiful, white chiffon one that I learned was her prom dress. She had someone to come in and make adjustments and come Saturday, the dress was hanging on the back of Cara's bedroom door, in a bag, ready for me to put on.

This morning—Saturday morning—has been a rush of getting decorations to the venue and making sure that everyone has their suits. Cara has been on the phone, ticking things off on her list and keeping calm through the whole thing. I have no idea how she's doing it, but seeing her like this is just wonderful to witness.

"The photographer will be here at half four," Cara says, putting her phone on the kitchen breakfast bar. "Hair and makeup will be arriving at three. Are you ready?"

Our eyes meet. "I'm not sure yet," I whisper honestly.

The truth is, I'm not ready to leave. This time tomorrow, we'll be at the airport, waiting for the plane to take us back to the UK. And I don't want to leave. I'm not ready to say goodbye and I don't think I'll ever be.

"Sang," Cara whispers and I blink, not realising I had looked away from her. Our eyes meet once more. "Do me a favour, honey?"

"What?" I ask.

"Have faith in fate, and believe that one day you'll be back here, please."

I shake my head, looking down at the sandwich I made but haven't touched. "I'm not sure I can."

"Then try," Cara says, rounding the counter and taking a seat at my side. "I believe it. I believe that one day, you'll be back here, smiling and laughing as much as you have been these past few weeks. I believe that you'll one day come home."

"Home?" I echo.

She smiles and nods her head. "Home is wherever your heart is sweetheart, and this, here, with those boys is your home. It's where you heart lies."

I don't even try to deny it.

I hold my hand over my mouth as Cara continues to tell the guys to get their butts down into the basement and to start getting themselves ready. Luke, Gabriel, and Sean keep wiggling their butts, going down the stairs, only to sneak back up as soon as Cara has closed the door.

North is grumbling about wearing a suit, while Owen and Kota seem quite excited to put one on. It's amusing.

"Get down there and stay down there, Lucian," Cara says sternly.

Luke's eyes sparkle as he says, "Ooh, bringing out the full name. That's not fair, Cara."

"Do as you're bloody told, boy," Uncle bellows as he comes down the stairs.

Luke's eyes widen. "I'm going," he screeches. "See you in a little while, Cupcake." He sends me a wink with his words before turning around and going down into the basement.
