"Wait, so it's a tradition to torture the second years at their camp?" Minah asked Taehyung the night they were back from camp.
"Yeah," he said. "And now it's your legacy to pass on. You aren't allowed to tell the first years, and parents who have another child at this school aren't allowed to tell them either."
"That's bullshit!" Minah replied.
"But I bet you'll still have fun laughing at the second years next year," you teased. It seemed like your room was the permanent meeting place for the three of you, since you were sitting on the edge of your bed, Taehyung lied down with a car magazine on his face and Minah sat in a corner crosslegged on her phone.
Taehyung agreed. "Yeah, that seems like my little sister." And Minah slapped his leg that was resting near her.
"So tell me, in your year, who won the most races?"
"Me."
"Haha, very funny." Of course not. Everyone knew the Kims were both very good at sports (and in general, everything), although it was said that they definitely did not get that from their parents. "Well, there was one good thing - the two lovebirds finally got together," Minah mused.
"Wait, what?" Taehyung's magazine had fallen on his face again, the third time in the last ten minutes. He sat up and faced the two of you. "My sweet dongsaeng has finally ended up with Jungkook?"
"Yes, oppa. Finally."
"Hey, stop talking about me and Jungkook like I'm not here!" you called out, smacking Taehyung yet again on his other leg.
"Hey, don't smack your oppa!" Taehyung mocked your tone. "But really, you guys have finally gotten together? I need to go congratulate Kookie," and he grabbed his phone from the bedside counter and went away to his room, typing furiously on it as he went.
"What the heck does 'finally' mean?" you turned to Minah.
"You know that Jungkookie has liked you for years, right?" Minah asked.
"No, I don't know. Since when?"
"Now that you ask, I don't actually know. Probably since that first year you guys got to know each other in second grade. You know how sappy he is. He's had a crush on you forever!"
"Uh, I don't believe you."
"Girl, you'd better, 'cause I've definitely known our boy Jungkook for longer."
"Why do you have to throw that in my face every time?" you asked, exasperated.
Your conversation was interrupted by Taehyung busting back into your room with Jungkook at his heels. Minah hit Taehyung on his back for rudely barging in, and you smiled at Jungkook as you looked at each other.
Taking a step back next to Jungkook, Taehyung clapped him on the back and said, "Well, brother, congratulations on finally getting the girl."
Jungkook immediately turned around, making Taehyung's hand slip off his back, "What?"
Taehyung slung his arm back over Jungkook's shoulder and looked in your direction, "Stop acting clueless. Good work, Kook."
He looked at you helplessly. You intervened. "Taehyung-oppa, please stop."
"Oh no, no, no," Taehyung walked towards your bed with Jungkook in tow, "we're going to be making a big deal out of this." He smirked. "We're telling Mom."
Everyone gasped. Including Taehyung, who was shocked but proud of the idea he proposed.
Minah grabbed your hand and said, "Let's go!" before dragging you with Taehyung dragging Jungkook behind him downstairs to Jin, who was currently preparing a snack in the pantry.
"Mom! Mom! Where are you?" Minah and Taehyung yelled together, the four of you not even through the door of the dining room that connected the living room to the pantry.
"How many times have I told you children to stop yelling?" Jin called out, equally as loud as her too children, rushing into the now-cramped pantry where Jin was microwaving a strudel with you and Jungkook reluctantly in tow.
"They're dating," they said in unison, pointing to the couple (being you).
Jin-eomma was stunned for a moment. "Jinja?" Then her face lit up. And she turned to you, still caught in Minah's grasp, "You and Jungkook are together. Oh my god, congratulations on getting the man of your dreams, dear!" Although Jin was a mother of two rather large children, she was still a young girl at heart. Maybe even a teenage girl.
You blushed profusely and refused to meet Jungkook's eyes, which had flitted over to look at you questioningly. The white ceramic tiles of the pantry wall were so pretty, yeah? With all intricate blue flower patterns that surely Jin had picked out...
"We should have a party!" Jin clapped her hands together.
Both your heads snapped up. "No!"
Jungkook, stepping away from Taehyung's hold on his shoulders, said, "Ajumeoni, there's really no need for something like that. It's not a very big deal, jagi and I can just..." he trailed off.
The big grin you had inside from hearing Jungkook call you 'jagi' threatened to appear on your face, as you said, "Yes, ajumma, please. The two of us," you allowed a smile in Jungkook's direction here, "just want everything to be the way they were before. Including Minah and Taehyung-oppa."
Jin laughed. "Well, there's no sense in forcing a party on a young couple. But we're still celebrating tonight! Taehyungie-yah, is Eunjeongie still coming tonight?"
"She should be here any time soon," he devilishly smirked at you. "I think she might like to try your cooking, eomma."
"Oh, yes, of course!"
And that night you all had a fabulous dinner (hosted by Jin) with you and Jungkook as the heads of the table instead of Namjoon, Jin being really enthusiastic near your side of the table as Namjoon kept his head down and chewed his wife's good food, not offering any help to Jungkook next to him, who was badgered constantly about the new relationship. All in all, it was great, even when Minah death-threatening the both of you to treat each other well otherwise she would have to kill the wrongdoer as you were both her friends.
