So now Jungkook walks to school with you in the morning, Minah smartly deciding to leave early with her brother before Jungkook got there. "A worthy sacrifice", she called it.

At school, everything seemed a little different, maybe it was just you and you were basking in the happiness of finally being with Jungkook, or maybe everyone was still feeling the camp mood.

First period, homeroom. Seeing Ms Lee walk in with her usual bundle of folders in office attire, everyone cheerfully said, "Morning, Ms Lee!"

Everyone was discussing the upcoming annual music competition; Eunha had mentioned that she wanted to join this year, and suddenly everyone was talking about who they thought would be joining this year and who would win.

The sight made you a little nostagic from your seat near the middle of the classroom, feeling like Ms Lee's high heels brought you back to reality, and that the Nike sneakers (and ajumma-style one) she wore on the trip was just a figment of your imagination. Everything was back as it was.

But that could not suppress the happy atmosphere everyone was exuding. It would be hard to get back into the school mood. Then, Ms Lee made the announcement.

"So, everyone. Our annual Busan High Music Festival will be on the 25th of September! Sign-ups will start this Friday. Is there anyone in our class who is thinking about signing up?" A couple of hands shot up, including Eunha, who sang very well, and a few others who had joined last year as well. No one surprising.

Jungkook waved at you from his seat until you peripheral vision caught onto the movement. He mouthed, "You wanna join?"

Was he asking you? You, the talentless musician? Sure, you still take those piano lessons that your mom made you take when you were in primary, but the Music Festival was essentially a singing competition. And you weren't even that good at playing piano (okay, to be honest, you were pretty crap).

Probably he was looking at someone else. You turned away and listened to everyone discuss whether the competition would have the same winners as last year, and the conclusion was that since the best performer Jung Hoseok in 3A had just graduated, the competition would be down to Jimin (why was he allowed to be so good?) and the singing duo Myoui Mina in 2B and Zhou Tzuyu in 1A.

You were pleased to hear the good comments about Jimin; you and Minah were always supportive of your friend, although that was possibly because you had to encourage him to show his abs more often for the sake of the rest of the girls. He was very talented, with an angel's voice but (chiche-ly) the body of the devil himself. All his attempts to teach you and Minah to dance, even just to do a light body roll, were futile. At the last Festival, he had surprised everyone with a song he was featured in for sunbaenim Hoseok's performance, being a first year, with his way-too-sexy dance moves and higher-than-a-girl high notes to harmonize with Hoseok.

The new duo, Twice as they named themselves, were composed of Mina, who won second place last year, and Tzuyu, who went viral in Busan on Instagram for short covers she did with a few friends of hers that played guitar. They decided to do a collaboration some time in the summer, before Tzuyu started at Busan High, having many mutual friends that recommended them to do a song together. They had performed a couple of times at the school assemblies, earning praise from all.

They would be tough competition for Jimin, you were sure, but you were also sure of the hours you and Minah spent at a dance studio watching Jimin practice. He was so hardworking.

The bell rang after another fifteen minutes or so, dismissing you for the next lesson. As you grabbed your bag and walked out of the classroom thinking about the Festival on the way to Literature, you had not noticed Yugyeom had been calling your name until he put his hand on your shoulder from behind you to stop you. Turning around, you said, "Oh, hi, Yugyeom. Sorry, I had stuff on my mind."

"It's fine." He was breathing hard from trying to catch up to you, in the middle of the hallway, his hand still on the shoulder connected to the arm that was hold a bunch of folders and your laptop.

"So, is there something you need...?" you trailed off, hoping he would just go away.

"Yeah. I'm joining the Festival. Do you want to perform with me?"

Huh? "Perform? Sorry, Yugyeom, you were right before in saying that I was useless, because I honestly don't know how to sing or dance or play any instruments." Your beginner piano skills did not count. You were suddenly reminded of Jungkook who may or may not have asked you to perform with him as well. "Why would you think I was going to join?"

"Come on, babe. It's just a performance. Just go up and sing a song with me!"

You shrugged his hand off the shoulder strap of your backpack. "No, thanks. I really don't sing. Sorry!" you said through your teeth before rushing off into the Literature classroom just two doors away.

A/N: For reference, my jungkook scenarios book has a chapter on walking to school with him 😂 Go check it out!
