Smokekit laid peacefully, pressed up against the cold nursery den wall, She was exhausted. From what, she didn't know. Apparently, doing nothing was very tiring. She was the oldest kit in her litter. By a few heartbeats, but it still counted.

She pressed a tiny grey paw into the soft dirt beneath her, but jumped slightly when a small bug crawled out. Despite being born a time ago that She hadn't kept track of, She still saw darkness. Her mother always told her about how bright it was outside. At one point. How colorful it was, if she opened her eyes. But one day, her mother's stories were gone. And so was her mother. Even though she did open her eyes. She still saw darkness with open eyes

One day something bigger...fatter...laid with her, and to her surprise, it was a dark-gray, almost black tom, with a stripe of white on his left back paw. His green eyes, wide as an expression registered on his face, that she couldn't read. Suddenly it turned into something she could read 'sadness'.

He was uncomfortably close to her now, like her mother had been. three more kits, all slightly smaller, and seemingly a bit younger than her, walked in. one laid up against her own warm pelt.

The smallest one leaned on her and leaned into her pelt.

She touched noses with the younger cat "who are you?"she asked, but quickly corrected herself "I mean: what's your name?"she meowed quickly. She reminded herself why she was in the dark den in the first place.

"Dustkit"he meowed, flicking his tail, as if smokekit hadn't realized his sandy-colored fur yet.

"And those are my brothers, roughkit, and silentkit."he meowed energetically, almost happily, flicking his short tail towards roughkit, A sandy brown young tom with amber eyes, and silentkit, a kit with light-brown fur who seemed reluctant to Tallk. As in probably  never did.

Two bigger toms walked in, both looking at smokekit as if disgusted by her. "And those are my older brothers, twitchpaw, and Ruffledpaw."the kit added. twitchpaw was a really big tom with green eyes, clashing with his black fur. Ruffledpaw was sandy brown and splotched with black and tan.

"Hey, why do you look so wierd?"asked an energetic roughkit.

Smokekit didn't respond, but she looked at her pawd. It was light-gray with flecks of dark-gray and black. She turned hrr head to see that her back paws were the same, but her back and belly were white.

"yeah, and your eyes look funny."commented dustkit.

smokekit flinched at the rude comments from who she assumed were her siblings, and stood up, wobbly for a few heartbeats but was eventually able to run around the den happily.

she then came across a puddle and then looked up at the sky. It was about the color of most of her paw-fur. It looked really sad.

When smokekit looked into the puddle, she was saddened by what she saw:

She had a blue left eye, and a green right eye. She almost cried at her own reflection.

Suddenly she picked up the sound of yowling, which attracted her and her brothers to the clearing were a bunch of cats that smokekit couldn't recognize were gathered around.

She heard multiple cats noises of surprise and several curses being spat at her and her siblings when they pushed up to the front where two huge cats were arguing.

"You can't give her up like that! She's just a helpless little thing!"the larger one hissed at the other one "but she's ugly! She doesn't deserve my love!"The smaller one hissed.

"Dawntail, I refuse to let you give up smokekit!"
Huh?
"You must leave instead!"the big cat snapped.
The smaller cat- Dawntail, staggered back "fine then! you are so lucky that I love my sons! "She growled in a huffy tone.

Smokekit looked around and spotted a cat, bigger than her obviously, stuffing her face with something that smokekit didn't know of but she assumed it was Food.

"she's probably trying to figure out how many bites she can take of that rabbit before a fight breaks out."ruffledpaw murmured, making smokekit snicker at his little joke.

the she-cat glared at ruffledpaw but both of them just rolled their eyes at each other.

The hungry-looking she-cat got to eat barely more than half of the prey before both cats lunged at each other, a ball of Sandy-brown fur and ginger fur.

As well as teeth, claws, and blood. Smokekit had to turn away from the fighting clan cats, and bury her face in her brother's fur.

Finally she decided to peek out, the bloody sandy-brown furred cat glared at smokekit and slashed at her face before storming off to a den.

Smokekit was panicking. Her ears and face were beeding. The whole clan was in an uproar over this now.

"I'm dizzy..."smokekit complained. She remembered the faces of her worried little and older brothers.

She saw something confusing in the darkness the glinting amber eyes of an unknown cat, staring at her through the nothingness. And she just stared right back.

"Smokekit....?...smokekit...?"roughkit's voice echoed through the ringing in her ears.

She looked at him with a bloodshot blue eye and a green one "roughkit....?"she struggled but smiled. More excited voices from her other brothers.

It took her until now to realize that she was the only female here.

"What's going on?"she asked, sitting up. She realized that the entrance to the nursery was closed off almost completely, blocked by materials gathered from around the territory.

"well...mother and father say that we can't come see you anymore."roughkit explained.

Smokekit let a low growl rise in her chest "but that's not fair! I didn't do anything wrong!"she protested.

Roughkit just gave her a sad, sideways glance as he walked away. "Roughkit!"smokekit hissed, pouncing at the entrance and clawed at it, but she couldn't go any further as an older cat blocked off the only way out.

She let out a pained yowl. They just trapped her here! She didn't do anything wrong.,..did she?

Smokekit just laid there and cried. She knew that no one other than her brothers really cared, but even so she still held on to the knowledge that the entrance would open again at some point.
