Ch 21

    We pulled up to Lindsay house and Cass got out and ran to the door. Aiden got her bag out as I walked to the door. I knocked on the door of the apartment. A girl my age opened the door with a beautiful little blonde girl squealing "Cass!" She yelled and Cass ran to her hugging her. I couldn't help but smile. "I'm Katie, Cass mom. That's Aiden, Cass Dad." I said pointing to Aiden walking up the wall way. "Lindsay. Kaylas mom. Your daughter is in good hands with me." She said. I smiled. We walked in and talked for a few. We felt that Cass was going to be safe. We decided it was time for us to leave. "Bye mommy! Bye daddy! I love you!" Cass said hugging us. I kissed her head and we walked out. Once we got back home we went over the plan. It was happening tonight. I went and changed into black jeans a white shirt and a leather jacket with my boots. I placed an envelope in a box and sealed it.

    The plan was to knock out his men and to kill Dad. Seems simple. Let's keep it that way. "Ready?" Aiden asked leaning on the door frame. I walked over to him and kissed him. He deepened it pushing me against the wall. We pulled away and i replied "Yeah. Let's do it." With that we headed out.  We pulled up to the house and saw the lights were on. I sat there with a feeling I couldn't shake. Kyle saw I haven't gotten out yet. He walked over and opened the door. He knew I was nervous, so he pulled me into a big brother hug. "I know." Was all he said. Finally getting their nerves I got out and grabbed Aidens hand.

     We walked up to the house and I peaked in. They all were sitting watching a tv show. I placed my hand on my gun and motioned for Kyle. He came up and saw. "Easy." He mouth to me. Aiden walked up and kissed my cheek before unlocking the door. "Go!" I whisper yelled to them. They went in and dads guys started shooting back at us. I unhitched a smoke bomb and threw it making it hard for them to breathe and see. We ran in and fought them. That's when I saw Dad out of the corner of my eye. I looked at Aiden and he followed me up the steps where Dad went.

   We entered the hall and cleared the rooms. I froze "Dad..." I slowly turned when I felt the barrel of the gun in my back. Aiden held his gun tight aimed at Dad. "Walk!" Dad yelled and shoved it deeper in my back. I walked into the room and saw Aiden following. I saw Kyle out of the corner of my eye. Kyle coming in caused chaos to go off. Dad shoved me turned to shoot Kyle. Kyle dropped to the floor with a bullet in his leg but Aiden shot Dad in the arm. Gaining my balance back I turned and tackled Dad. Taken out my anger on him and kept punching him. When he was weak I got up and got my gun.

    "Your pathetic excuse for a Dad. You tried to kill Cass before she was even born. Than tried to kill her when was just a baby. Not to mention how many times I've been shoved down the steps. I became your punching bag. You kid napped your granddaughter and kept her hostage. And when I did find her you beat the shit out of me and Aiden. Just for what? Cause I didn't want to join your gang?!" I yelled shoving the gun in to his chest. "I've made you who you are!" Before I knew what was happening Dad tackled me. When he tackled me the gun went off.

    There was two shots. Pain was all I felt. "Katie!" I heard Kyle and Aiden yell. I saw Kyle stand and limp his way to me. I saw Dad on the floor not moving. "Oh my god!" I heard Danni say when she came into view. "Katie stay with me..." Aiden said. I felt my body getting tired and couldn't stay awake much. "Don't sleep." I heard Aiden say. My body took over my mind and that's when everything went dark.

   I watched everything happen in a out of body experience. Watching them panic. I saw them take me in a ambulance to the hospital. I saw them doing surgery on me. That's when I heard them tell Aiden. "I'm so sorry. She didn't make it. She lost to much blood." I was dead... my dad finally got me. I hurt for my family. Mainly Cass. She has to find out her mom is gone. She has to grow up with out a mom. "How will I tell Cass?" I heard Aiden say. "We all will together." I saw Kyle sitting beside him in a wheel chair.

   I watched Aiden go to get Cass the next day. I saw Cass cry when he told her. My heart broke again. I saw my funeral. I heard Cass cry every night. I saw Aiden struggle for a few weeks. I saw them all put Cass first. I get to watch my family continue life with out me.

***one more chapter... I did love Katie and how she was with her family but she gave everything for Cass. And a mother will always do what she needs to do to keep her kids safe.
