Taking a deep breath I opened the letter.
          "My beautiful daughter,
If you are reading this letter, I didn't get to see you grow up. If you are reading this I've been gone for 10 years. I've asked our family not to speak of what happened until you were at least 16. I only asked that so you were old enough to understand. You see I met your dad at 16 we dated and I ended up pregnant with you by age 17. I was terrified to tell your dad.

Grandpa decided that I was a disgrace to the family and had me sent away. That's where I met Aunt Danni and Aunt Amber. We instantly became best friends. Uncle Kyle and Uncle Nick came to visit and those girls fell for them. As you grew up I gone home. I stayed with Uncle Kyle. Your dad came back and I kept you a secret. I know, I'm sorry baby girl. I was afraid of him leaving us. You two finally met and instantly you became a daddy's girl. I loved watching you two interact with each other more than anything.

Your dad, uncles, aunts and I all were in a gang. Street fight, racing and dealing. No Cass, not drugs. We dealed guns and knives to other gangs. Dad, well grandpa found us and made it his goal to destroy our family. We fought every day and night to keep you safe. Finally the day came when we took action on grandpa. I passed that night. I fought my whole life of having you to keep you safe. I love you more than anything Cassadee. Read my journals to know more when your ready. I'm always watching you baby girl.
                          Love,
                                  Mommy"

Taking a shaky breath I folded the paper and put it back in the envelope. I saw a figure in my door way and saw my dad staring at me. "I miss her dad." I said with my voice shaking. I saw him come over and pulled me into his arms. "I know. I do too Cass." He said kissing my hair. After a few minutes I decided to get up. I put the box in the corner and saw Dad sitting on my bed still. I picked up a photo of the her and Dad walking back to my bed. I sat by Dad and placed my head on his shoulder looking at the photo. "You look like her princess." He said quietly to me. I smiled and set it back down. "I should get ready for the day." I said to him. He nodded and walked out.

I'm Cass, Katie's and Aidens daughter and this is my story.
