CHAPTER TEN
❛ SECRETS ❜"TARGET IS A MOBILE SATELLITE launch platform, the Lemurian Star. They were sending up their last payload when pirates took them, ninety-three minutes ago." Rumlow explained. "Any demands?" Steve asked.
"Billion and a half." He answered.
"Why so steep?" Asked Steve again.
"Because it's S.H.I.E.L.D.'s." Rumlow told him.
"So it's not off-course. It's trespassing." Said Steve after a couple of seconds. "I'm sure they have a good reason." Natasha replied to him, Jane was standing next to her.
"You know, I'm getting a tired of being Fury's janitor."
"Relax. It's not that complicated."
"How many pirates?" Steve asked Rumlow. "25. Top mercs led by this guy," Rumlow said, pointing his direction to the screen, "George Batroc. Ex-DGSE, Action Division. He's at the top of Interpol's Red Notice. Before the French demobilized him, he had thirty-six kill missions. This guy's got a rep for maximum casualties." He informed the group.
"Hostages?"
"Mostly techs. One officer. Jasper Sitwell. They're in the gallery."
"What's Sitwell doing on a launch ship?" Steve asked to himself, Jane was somehow sick of him asking so many questions, but to be fair, he was asking necessary questions.
"All right, I'm going to sweep the deck and find Batroc. Nat, you and Jane kill the engines and wait for instructions. Rumlow, you sweep aft, find the hostages, get them to the life-pods, get them out. Let's move." Steve ordered and the others immediately got ready to gear up.
"Secure channel seven." Steve checked.
"Seven secure." Natasha replied. "Did you do anything fun Saturday night?" Natasha asked him. Steve and Jane knew exactly what she was doing, Natasha has been trying to find Steve a date for several days.
"Well, all the guys from my barbershop quartet are dead, so no, not really." Steve said sarcastically.
"Coming up on the drop zone, Cap."
Steve pushed a button and put his helmet on.
"You know, if you ask Kristen out, from Statistics, she'd probably say yes." Natasha said. "Of course she'd say yes." Jane confirmed.
"That's why I don't ask." Steve said and got ready to jump out the plane, putting his shield on his back. "Too shy, or too scared?" Natasha asked, practically screaming in the loud noise of the jet engines.
"Too busy." Steve simply said before jumping out without a parachute.
"I'm telling you. That guy's dying alone." Said Jane jokingly, "and he's actually okay with it." Natasha just gave her a small laugh in response. "Come on, let's get ready." She tossed Jane a parachute.
