Chapter 8
PETER'S POV
I stayed the night in the hospital, refusing to leave. My dad tried to get me to go to school but I refused, and my dad eventually just gave up. When school was over, my dad went to go pick up Belle. Ariel had already gone back to Sacramento so it was just me sitting in my mom's room. I waited about thirty minutes after high school let out to stand up and walk out of the room.
"I'll be right back." I said to my dad and he nodded. I paced in the hallway a bit before pulling out my phone. I sighed and dialed Brooke's number, of course it went to voicemail.
"Brook, I know your mad at me, but please call me back. I-I-" My voice started to crack and tears rolled down my face. "I really need you right now, my best friend." I hung up and slid to the ground, sobbing into my knees. I sent Brooke a text before walking back into the room.
Peter~ Brooke, please call me back. I really need to talk to you :/
I slipped my phone into my pocket and dozed off. I woke up to my phone vibrating in my pocket, I pulled it out to see it was Brooklynne. I stood up and saw my dad sleeping on a chair while Belle was playing a game on her phone. I walked out of the room and answered it, leaning against the wall.
"Hello?"
"Peter, what's up?"
"C-Can you get your dad or mom to drive you to the hospital?" I asked, my voice cracking.
"Oh my God, Peter, are you okay."
"I-I'm fine. J-Just please, I really need to talk to you."
"I'll ask, hold on." She said and her line was silent for a minute as tears rolled down my face. "We're on our way."
"T-Thanks." I said and hung up. I wiped my face and peeked into the room to see my dad awake.
"Dad, I called Brooklynne, Alex and over. I'm going to go wait out in the waiting room for them."
"Alright, can you send Brooke's parents in when they get here?" I nodded as I left the room, the guys from OM&M and FIR still sitting out here.
"Hey Peter." They smiled at me and I waved, sitting in a chair in the corner. I kept my phone on my thigh, constantly checking it. To be honest, I was completley nervous. Last time I saw Brooke, we had gotten in a big fight. I really hope her visit today doesn't end like that again.
"Peter." I looked over to see Ronnie had moved over to sit next to me.
"Oh, hi." I said.
"Why didn't you go to school today?" I just shook my head.
"I can't Ronnie, i-it's not fair."
"Not fair?"
"I can't leave my mom Ronnie."
"You can for eight hours! She's got all of us and your dad!"
"I need to be there when she wakes up. This is all my fault anyway. I need to be there to appologize to her. I can't abandon her, and that's what I'm doing if I leave the hospital to go to school.
"It's not your fault Peter."
"YES IT IS!" I screamed, causing everybody to look at me.
"How is it your fault?"
"I ran off. I stayed with my sister in Sacramento for the night. She stayed up all night waiting for me and then went to go look for me and crashed!"
"Peter, someone crashed into her, they watched the stop light cameras, it was green on her side." I just shook my head. "Anyway, you seem nervous, what's up?"
"I-I'm not nervous."
"Peter, you've been shaking your leg since you've come out here, something's got to be up." Ronnie said, pushing on my leg to make me stop shaking.
"O-Oh." I sighed. "I-It's just, Brooklynne is coming with her parents and the last time we saw each other, we got in an argument. I-I'm just worried that it'll happen again." Ronnie was about to speak when Brooklynne and her parents walked in. Alex quickly scanned the room before running to me, his wife and daughter following.
"What happened?" He asked me.
"My mom got in a bad car crash. My dad's in the room with her." I gave him the room and he thanked me, dragging his wife out of the waiting room.
"Peter." Brooklynne said, placing her hand on my knee. I just grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the hospital. I fell to the ground and sobbed into my knees. Brooke sat next to me and rubbed my back.
"Peter, what's wrong." I wiped my eyes and looked up at her.
"I-I'm afraid my mom might die."
"She's going to be just fine."
"I know, it's just, I can't help it. I ran off to see my sister cause my mom and I got in a fight and she stayed up all night waiting for me. She decided to drive to try to find me on no sleep and she crashed." I said, beginning to sob again. "It's all my fucking fault!"
"No it's not Peter." She said, wrapping her arms around me and hugging me. "Will it make you happy to know I broke up with Jacob?"
"Really?" I asked and she nodded. "W-Why?"
"What you said sunk in and I realized you were right."
"Really?"
"Nah, the asshole cheated on me. I saw him kissing Lindsay in the hall." She shrugged.
"O-Oh. Look, I'm sorry about our fight. I should've kept my mouth shut."
"It's fine, you really made me realize that Jacob and I really didn't fit together."
"Come on, let's get inside." I said, standing up and she agreed.
