Heyo! Hope you liked the last chapter! I don't really know where I'm going with this, but let's just see where it takes me. And what was with that kiss, eh?
Chapter 4: One Dance
I flopped onto my bed with my homework. It was the first thing I did after school. Grabbing my homework, I started with my least favourite, Science. We were in the chemistry unit.
I finished that after a long struggle. Most people were surprised that, for a nerd, Science was one of my worst subjects. But it was, and I was so glad to move on to English.
After finishing a few poems and my other two subjects, I grabbed my book. It was a fantasy, like most of my books. For some reason I had a thing with fiction stories. I think it had something to do with my imagination: I could make everything the way I wanted it to be.
The ringing of my front doorbell made me jump. I almost instantly knew it was Brogan. Why couldn't he just leave me alone? I don't want to talk to him, especially after that kiss.
I don't know why it was bothering me so much. It shouldn't effect me if I don't even like him, right? Maybe I was just annoyed because he said he liked me, and then he kisses a different girl.
For a minute, I thought of acting like I wasn't home, but I decided otherwise. Maybe it was important?
I opened the door quickly, "Brogan-" I stopped myself because Daphne was I'm front of me, now confused.
"Daphne, what are you doing here? And how do you know where I live?" Stunned I couldn't move, but realized I was being rude by just standing there. I closed the door and we both took a seat on the porch.
"I was here to ask you if you wanted to go to Brogan's House-leaving party. Oh, and I remembered it from when we had a team meeting here." She replied casually.
I sighed, remembering the time we came to my house after a baseball practice and worked out some strategies for the next game.
"Why did you think I was Brogan?" Daphne was rocking annoyingly fast on my rocking chair, I was actually afraid she would fly off.
"He wanted me to go-" I didn't stop myself fast enough. I paused, hoping Daphne hadn't heard me.
"Why would Brogan want you to go?" She seemed suddenly interested. Dang you, Scooter! "So he could... tease me even more. He'll take any chance he gets."
Daphne nodded and I breathed a sigh of relief. "I just wanted to thank you for helping me with baseball. You're really good, you know."
I could feel my cheeks redden. I didn't usually get compliments so it made it harder to except them every so often. I just nodded awkwardly.
"You don't need to thank me. I just want to help. Baseball is much more fun when you do it right. Even the smallest little things can throw you off. I was just giving a few pointers." Uncomfortable for talking to someone who was probably one the most popular girls in school, I shifted a little.
"Well, you're going, anyway. I'll pick you up here at 7 pm. If you're not ready, I'm taking you the way you are." She chuckled and stepped off the porch. "Bye!" She called as she slammed the door to a shiny black car.
Her family was very rich, and Daphne, with her dad as a doctor and her mom a lawyer, had some of the nicest clothes and jewelry. I could tell she was driving off in her older brother's very expensive vehicle.
I also knew that I had no choice but to go to the party.
