Hey guys! So I have to have this story done in less than a week! I'm kind of nervous because I don't know if I'm going to get it done, but I only have about three chapters left, so I could pull it off. Wish me luck. :)

Chapter 19: No Second Chances

"Rose?!" I called as I shut the door behind me. "Is she home yet?" I asked Christian as we poked our heads into the kitchen and living room. My bag was slung onto the bench by the front door. "Rose?" I shouted up the stairs.

Christian held up his hand. "Shhhh, can you hear that?"

I looked up the stairs. "She's in the shower. Wait, no she's not. This house is weird, I hate that noise it makes when someone opens the door." Grabbing my bag, I headed to the kitchen to unpack my lunch. "Hey, Chris, do you want something to eat?"

He declined my offer from the living room and I could hear the baseball highlights come on T.V. Usually I would listen, too, but I slouched up to my room.

My blinds were still closed, so I opened them up to a bright summer sun. Summer was my favourite season, and this year, it seemed to be the longest. I turned on the small stereo in my bedroom and listened to 'Let Her Go' by Passenger from my little window seat. The song was almost over when a light knock on my door interrupted. The door was already opened so I motioned for whoever it was to come in.

Christian sat down on my bed and I turned the music down so it was faintly playing in the background. I could tell something was on his mind.

"What's up?" I asked casually, even though I had a feeling it was going to be an awkward conversation.

He grabbed a stuffed bear that was on my bed and began tossing it around. "I was just- you aren't planning on you know, getting together with Brogan, are you?"

I huffed, just like I had to Brogan. "No way! You heard me talking to him. The only reason he wants to actually be with me now is because he has nothing to lose." I chuckled. "I'm not going to get with Brogan."

He pretended to find it funny too, but I could tell he was upset about it for some reason. "Why do you ask?" I questioned, leaving the room. Christian followed and we went down stairs.

"I don't know, I just- I have a feeling he wouldn't treat you properly." He finished as Rose opened the door.

She smiled, "Hey, guys, how was your first day?" I could smell that "dentisty" scent on her. Rose was the secretary at the local dentist. The two of us just smiled and she said, "Okay." And left for the kitchen.

"What do you guys want for dinner?" She called from where she stood by the fridge. She was looking into the freezer for something to put in the oven.

Christian went in, requesting spaghetti. "I'd like mine with no sauce, please!" I shouted as I headed back up the stairs. I didn't even know why I came down in the first place.

Rose and Christian both poked there heads out, clearly confused. "No sauce?" They questioned simultaneously. I just nodded and continued to my room. As I walked through the door, I kissed my hand and placed it on the photo of my parents. It had become a routine.

"Thanks for dinner!" I exclaimed from the stairs. As I entered my room again, I glanced over at the clock, 7:36. Flopping onto my bed, I pulled out my homework. All I had to do was finish my science questions and French composition.

I finished everything in about an hour, maybe more because I stopped and thought about Brogan and how much trouble he will cause, every few minutes.
