I could still feel the energy thrumming underneath my skin as we made our way down the streets, running and leaping over cars.
"Over there!" I inform as I spot a group of first responders shooting at Chitauri Chariots flying past them, "I'll take care of the Chitauri."
Steve nods in agreement before he breaks off from me. I draw my blades, twirling them in my hands as a group of four Chitauri soldiers surround me.
I spring into action, sinking my blade into the head of the closest soldier before advancing on the next. With a couple of quick slashes, two more soldiers go down, leaving just one. I go for its legs, tackling it to the ground before plunging my blade into its head.
Just as I thought I've finished them all, another Chitauri rushes out from nowhere, knocking me off my feet. I push at it, trying to get it off me as it claws at my face. I feel my fingers crackle before the Chitauri bursts into flames under my touch.
My fingers still sparked as I look up to see Steve standing on top of a car, giving off instructions to a young police officer and his sergeant.
"Why the hell should I take orders from you?" The sergeant asks.
"Cap!" I yell, just as I see several Chitauri soldiers approaching him.
I shook off the shock and sheath my blades before I unslung my bow from around my back, drawing my arrow and letting it fly.
It takes down the Chitauri leading the pack, drawing Steve's attention to the group advancing on him. I slide over the hood a car in my way, making my way over to help him.
I charged towards the closest Chitauri, wrapping my arm around its neck and swinging my body over its shoulders and onto its back. It fires aimlessly in wild panic, trying to get me off it. In the midst of its panic, I direct its weapon at the other three Chitauris, taking two of them down. The last one, however, had managed to pick itself up. I used my feet and pushed my body off the Chitauri's back and over its head.
I land on my feet, unsheathing my blades before tossing one of the pair at one of the Chitauri, then sinking my blade into the head of the other. They both go down and I turn around just in time to see Steve knocking a Chitauri into a nearby building with his shield, still holding onto its severed arm in his free hand.
The two officers looked bewildered before the sergeant immediately turns and speaks into his radio, relaying Steve's instructions to his team.
Steve hops off the vehicle as I proceed to retrieve my blade and a couple of arrows while I'm at it.
"I see you've handled yourself amazingly, as usual." He says with a grin, "Ready to go?" He asks.
"Not just yet." I jerk my chin towards another group of Chitauri soldiers closing in on us.
I send a kick towards the nearest one, sending it flying into a nearby car before I pulling another Chitauri into a headlock. It struggles against my grip, but I manage to hold it down, just long enough for Steve to swoop in and take off the Chitauri's head using his shield.
We go back the way we came from, returning just in time to provide Nat and Clint with some much-needed backup.
Steve gets there first, taking down five soldiers in a matter of seconds. I've only managed to shoot an arrow into one's head before a bolt of lightning strikes down, instantly frying the remaining Chitauris.
