Chapter 4
We were assaulted with the smell of horses and tack as soon as we walked into the school. There was paddocks, arenas and a couple buildings, some of which would be barns.
"Hello! How can I help you?" says a lady at the desk.
"Is there a lesson or a ride soon?" asks mum.
"There is one in about five minutes, apart from if you just want to ride in the indoor ring. Do you ride english or western?" she replies.
"Both but I'd like to do English this time. I'm more advanced in english." I tell her.
"Ok! Since its your first times here do you want to just ride in the arena?" the lady asks.
"Yes please" I reply.
"Alright! If you come with me, you can choose a horse!"
While we walk through the indoor arena, I spot a western lesson going on. A beautiful chestnut quarter horse is being ridden by a guy about my age.
"Lope at this corner," directs the instructor, "Good, don't let him stop."
As I look more carefully, I notice the horse is picking up his front left leg more than the others.
"Now bring him back to a trot, then walk and come over here," says the instructor. Turning to the desk lady, "Hi Mandy. Who's this?"
"Emma, this is Melanie and her mum." replies Mandy.
While they are talking, the guy comes over with the horse.
"Does he have a stone or something in his front left hoof?" I say, "He was picking it up higher than his others."
He dismounts and picks up the horse's leg.
"He does! Thanks!" he replies.
"You can go put him away now." says Emma.
"I'm Jared, by the way." he adds, with a smile.
"I'm Melanie." I answer.
"I'll see you 'round, Melanie." he says, walking away with his horse.
I sigh. They are both beautiful.
Wait, what?!
Am I growing feelings for him?!
That's crazy! But am I??

RomanceWe were moving again. I really don't like moving. This time is further than any before. I'm nearly used to it. I mean we have done it so often I've lost count. Well, anyway, my name is Melanie and I am 16. I LOVE horseriding but I've never stayed in...
