It is said that when your time is good, you don't mind spending it, whether cherishing it or not that is different thing, but when it is not with you, a single minute looks like a year. And you feel like getting disappeared in the thin air or swallowed by the earth.

But this is like a universal law- the cycle of happiness and sadness, success and failure and this is where enter two very important words- your manual effort (karma) and luck. And bad timing is when your own faith, beliefs, friends, family are tested. Either you discover and recreate yourself in a much better person or in a destructive mind.

Shanaya had always believed that if you can't do any good to a person, then don't cause any harm as well. If you can't make a person happy, then avoid being the reason behind the tears either by your words or actions.

It had been hardly a couple of weeks that the reactions and behaviors from her classmates had made it clear that they were aware of Rudra's absence. And now she thought that she made a mistake by saying that he would never come back. She could have lied, it would have given her some security but it was time that she learned being on her own. For, she herself didn't know if he was coming back at all. But he was calling her, every day, in nights. That itself was a big thing for her. In a way, it was kind of assurance to her, that he was with her and secretly she was beyond happy that her mom was wrong this one time. He cared for her and loved her and that was enough.

To hell with the future.

Yes... To hell with the future. Little did she know that the hell was on its way to give her the bitter memories of her lifetime.

Her class was divided into groups.

A group that was ready to add oil to the fume and see Shanaya suffer, this consisted of most of the girls who could not get attention from Rudra and blamed Shanaya for it. In college, this group worked silently but patiently waited for right opportunity to strike in the hostel.

Another group consisted especially of the guys whose attentions Shanaya had flatly ignored. They would make double meaning but vulgar comments on her. In a way, this did not work much earlier because either she was a dimwit to understand that or ignored it. Later on, girls from first group got active here. They would not only explain it to her but also add a few things from their end, just to intensify the affect and also to feel good, of course.

"Oh god Shanaya! Didn't you hear what he said? Indirectly he was inviting you to his bed since you have already warmed someone's bed and a few others as well. How pathetic of him. That bastard!!"

"Oh he was just saying that you are stained."

"Oh our poor girl!! You don't understand at all, do you? They have nick named you as the whore and that is why they see you as if you are a free meal. We know you will ignore them right like you always do."

Shanaya understood what they were playing, so she nodded her head,

"Yes. I will."

"Of course of course!! One has to be quite shameless to hear everything and still managing to keep her head high with all the attitude. God!! If someone had said something like that to me, I would have left the college or killed myself." Girls tried to pull their cards once again.

"You might but I won't. It's not easy to be and not everyone can be Shanaya." And with that she left, deciding not to entertain them.

And irony of these situations was the girls who were playing the "oh so caring" mediators had endless list of ex- boyfriends.

There was another group which respected Shanaya for different reasons. This group consisted of both guys and girls. These guys were either from her class or were Natey's ex flames. And these guys from her class had proved to be an invisible support since they were not only infamous but also suspended from the classes for a few times. So they had kept a safe distance. And the four girls- Anaya, Panjel, Paige and Nikayna- were the topper ones of the University and called themselves as the fantastic four. Shanaya used to sit with them without having any conversation. Also, they belonged to same belt from where Rudra hailed. It was Rudra's suggestion to get closer to these girls so that she could get a glimpse of their culture. She had tried in her way but had found them irritating. Maybe because they were tough to crack, just like her.
