Life is full of unexpected turns and it will be quite boring if it goes in a straight line. Some people are never meant to be with you, even if you spend a quality time with them and with some, it takes a second to know that they're here to stay.
This was so true in Shanaya's case when it came to her friends. As for Rudra, she was not sure. She didn't know what future they held given their family history. And ti be truthful, she never even thought about it. In his case, she took the life as it came. She had heard so many things by now regarding their relationship that she didn't want to think about it. She kept the pain of uncertainty at bay till she could. Love had brought her the happiness that she could not describe in words but it had also brought her pain, fear of unknown and a feeling of bounded. She feared that she might lose her freedom by her own hands.
Sometimes he unnerved her to the extent that she practically cursed the moment she met him. Just like this one that was happening just now..
She was on the call with Rudra. They had a lot of things to cover up and plan for her new found friends. Rudra was staying for a few more days for which Shanaya was happy of course but they were having an argument over her roommates.
"Why can't I tell them that I was with you?" Shanaya asked him exasperatedly.
"Are you fu**ing out of your mind or you don't have one at all? How can you trust anyone after what happened to you? Are you that dimwit?"
"But just now I told you how they fought for me. Doesn't that say something? They are different and innocent too. I don't want to lie to them." Shanaya tried to make him see her point.
"What if they tell Betty and she tells her idiot boyfriend who happens to be friends with your psycho classmates with whom you had a fight a few days back? What if those boys came to know and informed your HOD or Jonathon, what will you do then? All the hard work that you have done so far will go to the vain for no mistake of your own. Once you are out of this university do whatever you want. But till you are here, you will have to understand what I am trying to say. By any chance, have you forgotten how VC is? If you have, just ask your roommates, they will tell you what they have faced so far."
Shanaya was not speaking anymore, not because she was tired of making him understand but as soon as Rudra had taken Betty's name, she grasped the gravity of the situation she might have unknowingly put herself. She mentally thanked Rudra for saving her.
"Are you still there?" Rudra asked annoyed.
"Yes, it's just that I had not thought about Betty." Shanaya confessed.
"That's why sweetheart, don't use your brain when you clearly don't have one."
She sighed but didn't say anything. Any other girl would have started talking about manners, or respect or even fight for being talked in this way but not Shanaya. She knew he was furious at her thoughtlessness. He gets worried too much.
Besides, she didn't want to fight with him. He was not staying here for forever. He would leave in a few days.
"So what now?" She asked him. "How should we proceed and how do I inform them about your arrival?"
"Once you get inside your room and when all of them are there, give me a missed call. I will call you back and be genuinely happy that I have come to see you." Rudra suggested.
"Okay." Shanaya muttered and disconnected the call. She still didn't want to lie to these girls but she also knew how strongly they were attached to Betty. At least that is what it appeared on surface. Her emotions were at play once again. She controlled herself and entered her room with a smile.
