Brooke's POV

"Alright, alright. I'm coming." I shouted as I lazily got up from the sofa and stumbled over to the front door that someone was currently bashing on. After the wedding last night, Drew and I came home and just slept until this very moment. For some reason, I had slept on the sofa.

I pulled the front door handle down to reveal Steph who was raising an eyebrow at me.
"Someone's looking rough." She said and I rolled my eyes, stepping aside and letting her in before closing the door.
"And you're here because..." I asked, waiting for her to give me an answer.
"I saw you and lee last night." She said a little too loudly so I shushed her.
"Drew is sleeping." I whispered harshly.
"Jeez. Sorry. Anyway, I saw you and lee las-" she started.
"Yes I know, you said. And?" I cut her off.
"That's the happiest he's been in years." She said and I smiled but soon frowned once I realised what I was doing.
"It was a friendly gesture." I sighed, falling down to the sofa. I'm really hoping he didn't take it the way that I didn't want him to. It really was just a friendly gesture. He looked lonely so I asked him to dance. What's the harm in that?
Steph quirked an eyebrow in response and I groaned, rolling my eyes.
"He and I, we're never going to happen. I'm engaged Steph!" I said, holding up my left hand to show her the ring. Her eyes widened as did mine when I shifted them to my hand.
"Where the hell is my ring?" I whispered harshly, hoping Drew wouldn't hear me.
"Shit, shit, shit." I said, standing up and ripping off the cushions off the sofa to see if it fell in between them. No sign of it. I huffed and raked a hand through my hair.
"Ok, calm down. Where did you last have it?" Steph asked and I shrugged.
"I have no idea. I could have sworn I had it on at the wedding yesterday." I replied.
"Then it's got to be around there. Come on." Steph said, grabbing my arms and leading me outside.
"I don't have any shoes on." I said and she stopped, looking down at my feet.
"Good point. Get some shoes on B. We're going on a little hunt." She said.

--------------
"Ugh, it's no where." I groaned, getting up from the floor as I had previously been looking under tables.
"What am I going to do?" I asked, turning my head in Stephanie's direction to see her picking at the food.
"Steph! That's for the next people. You can't eat it." I snapped, smacking her hand away from the food.
"They won't notice." She shrugged with a mouthful of food and I mentally heaved. Sometimes I wonder why she's my best friend.
"I can't tell Drew I lost his ring. He'd probably kill me." I sighed, completely ignoring what she said.
"I now have two rings." She said and I frowned, not getting the hint.
"Take one of mine. This one looks a bit like your engagement ring. If Jake asks, I'll just explain." She said and I shook my head.
"I'm not taking your engagement ring." I said.
"Just take it. You can give it back once Drew goes back home. He's leaving in two days." She said, grabbing my hand and sliding the ring on to my finger.
"Thank you. I'll have to find my ring." I said, hugging her tightly.

As we were hugging, claps and cheers filled the little hall. I pulled away and turned to see people standing there, some people smiling, some people crying.
"Congratulations!" One of them squealed, running up to us and engulfing us in a hug.
"I'm confused." Stephanie said with furrowed eyebrows.
"What is there to be confused about? You've literally just proposed and we're all cheering." The lady explained and my eyes widened. Oh my god, they think we're engaged.
"Oh no-" Stephanie laughed but I grabbed her hand and ran out of the place, laughing.

Well that wasn't awkward at all...
