Lee's POV

Sitting in the waiting area of a hospital for hours on end with a crying baby in my arms wasn't how I planned my evening to go. Mason was probably really hungry and I still haven't heard anything about Brooke.

My knee bobbed up and down anxiously as I bit down on my bottom lip, chewing off the dead skin. It's a nervous habit. I looked down at Mason, shushing him by rocking him back and forth. I stopped crying about an hour ago, I literally had no more tears left to cry. All I want to do right now is see her. I need to know that she's ok.

"Lee Hinchcliffe?" My name filled the quiet waiting room. I instantly snapped my head into the direction it came from where a male nurse was standing. I stood up quickly, my heart race picking up. Please tell me this is good news.
"Would you like to come with me?" He asked and I nodded frantically, looking down at Mason who was still crying.
"Y-yeah." I stuttered, approaching him and following him around the hospital.
How far away did they take her?

"Is she ok?" I asked, holding Mason close to my chest. He let out a small sigh but smiled.
"It took a lot of work, but she's ok." He said and I let out a breath of relief. She's ok.
"I couldn't be more grateful for you and your team." I smiled, giving Mason a kiss on the head. He's about to meet his mother for the first time.
"It's what we're here for." He smiled, stopping at a room and placing a hand on the door handle.
"I just thought I'd let you know that she's not completely with it. She's literally just died and came back to life, it's a miracle." He said and my heart stopped at his words. Brooke actually died... that's super crazy.
I couldn't say anything, instead, I just nodded and he opened the door.
"I'll be out here." He smiled, allowing me to step in. I thanked him and made my way into the room with Mason close to me.

As soon as the door was shut behind me, I turned my gaze towards the sleeping beauty that laid on the hospital bed. I smiled at the sight of her and crept over to the bed, bringing over a chair and sitting on it, holding her hand in mine.

As I was stroking my thumb over her delicate hand, her fingers moved a little and she stirred. I looked up at her, hoping to see her eyes open but frowned when I saw that they were still closed.
"Please wake up." I whispered, bringing her hand up to my lips and kissing it gently.
"I am awake you asshole." She mumbled, opening her eyes slowly. I smiled at her response and she squeezed my hand slightly.
"Will you help me sit up?" She asked and I nodded, holding Mason with one arm and helping Brooke sit up with the other.
"Is that Mason?" She asked breathlessly, looking at our baby boy. I nodded with a grin.
"Do you want to hold him?" I asked.
"Yeah." She whispered, tears brimming in her eyes as I placed him in her arms.
"He's gorgeous." She smiled.
"He sure is." I started.
"We did good." I grinned, leaning over the bed and leaving a long lingering kiss on her lips.

She's fine, Masons fine, I'm fine. I couldn't be happier right now.

Brooke's POV

Nurses come and go every so often to check on myself and Mason. They kindly gave me some food in a bottle for him which I was grateful for. They're not letting me go home tonight as of earlier's  events.

"Could you believe that I actually died?" I asked, letting out a breath. That's scary.
"Not at all. The moment you went unconscious, I lost it. I called for help and they checked for a pulse before taking you away from me. I wasn't allowed to come and be with you. That's what hurt me the most." Lee said as a tear rolled down his cheek. I would sit up and wipe it away but I'm no where near strong enough for that yet, so instead, I took my hand away from playing with Masons hair and I placed it on top of Lee's hand.
"I'm going to tell you something and don't tell me I'm being ridiculous because I know what I saw." I started and he furrowed his eyebrows at me.
"What is it?" He asked.
"When I went earlier, it was like my whole entire life flashed before my eyes. I got to relive every second, from the day I was born to giving birth to Mason. Every important thing that happened in my life, I got to relive, something's amazing and some, not so nice." I sighed.
"Anyways..." I continued.
"Once that had ended, I felt weird. I wasn't home anymore, I was in some plain white room being more confused than I have ever been in my life. She was there Lee." I breathed out, amazed at what I had seen.
"Who was there?" He asked, moving himself closer to me.
"My Nan." I smiled. I've never actually spoken about my Nan, mainly because when I was younger, we were so close and when she sadly passed, I couldn't bare to talk about her because I was never strong enough. I think I had only just turned 10. It was amazing to just see her again.
"She was there and we spoke." I said, not even stopping the massive smile that was forming on my face right now.
"What did she say?" He asked.

~flashback~

I looked at my surroundings. Plain white. Where am I? I ran a hand through my chocolate brown hair that was a little greasy and I sighed.
"Hello?" I asked, confused of where I was.
"Brooke." A quiet voice said from behind me. I thought I'd never hear that certain voice again. I turned around with a massive smile to see the one person I've longed to see for years.
"Nan." I breathed out, shocked as happy tears fell from my eyes. I've never ran into someone's arms as quickly as I did just then. The white walls around me seemed to disappear and right now, it was just myself and my nan.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you." I cried, pulling out of the hug and cupping her face in my hands, checking if she was definitely real.
"You don't have much time honey." She said softly, stroking a hand down brown locks.
"What do you mean?" I asked, frowning.
"You're dying Brooke." She whispered, holding back the tears that I knew threatened to fall.
"I'm dying?" I asked, stepping away from her and breathing in and out heavily. Death has always been one of my biggest fears along side of losing Lee.

Lee. What's he going to do?

"Only if it's what you want. You've got to listen to me sweetie." She said, coming close to me again and placing her hands either side of my face, wiping away my tears with her thumbs.
"You have a choice, you can stay here with me or you can fight. You can fight for your life back and you can be with Lee and Mason. It's not your time Brooke, it's not your time." She whispered before stepping back. I looked around as my surroundings slowly turned to the hospital hallway.
"Why are we here?" I asked, sniffing and spinning around in a slow circle.
"Look at him." She sighed, tilting her head to the side. I frowned but followed her gaze to a seat that had Lee sat on it, crying and cradling Mason in his arms. He looked destroyed.
"You can't leave him Brooke." My Nan said, coming up behind me and placing an arm on my shoulder.
"But I can't leave you." I sniffed.
"I'll be fine. Lee, Lee won't be. You're running out of time. If you don't fight for your life back, you're going to be stuck here with me forever. You'd have to watch Lee and Mason grow old without you in it. Lee wouldn't have a wife, he'd be a single parent and Mason wouldn't have a mother. He'd never have even met you. You don't want that Brooke." She said softly and I turned around, wrapping my arms around her torso and crying into her chest.
"I really love you, remember that." I cried into her chest.
"I'll never forget it." She whispered into my hair and I soon felt her disappear. I was now hugging air, crying in hysterics.

I've made a decision. I've got to fight for my life.

~end of flashback~

"You chose us over your Nan?" Lee asked, totally amazed over my story.
"I did. She'd want that and I couldn't watch you go on with life without me. Mason couldn't grow up without a mum. It was the best choice." I smiled, trying to control the tears that started fall when I told him the story.
"I love you so much." He said, standing up and smashing our lips together.

I just knew how proud my Nan would be of me, managing to fight through it all and being here with my family. We're a proper family now.

"I love you so much more." I mumbled into the kiss.
