"It's a clinic," Tony says looking at the building.
"My doctor is here," Angela states unlocking the door.
Anthony quickly gets out of the door and arrives at her side by the time she manages to get her feet out. He follows her instructions and helps her inside. The building was an old small office space. It's surrounded by other small businesses around. It's not in the nicest neighborhood to all means.
At the reception, Lillian stares for a second before quickly dialing the phone. Without a word towards then she points towards the right door. Walking down the old yellow hallway one of the doors open.
Dyren takes on look at her and moves quickly opening another door marked 3. Anthony enters the room and she can feel him become uncomfortable. Anthony lets her down softly on the torn, old bed. He moves away from her but stays still close enough.
"My dear what happened to you?" Dyren asks.
"Car accident," she states.
Dyren takes hold of her arms moving them up. She flinches as pain quickly shoots up to her neck. He puts his hands onto her ribs. Once again the pain overtakes her.
"I'm surprise you brought him here," Dyren says angrily.
"You got a problem with me?" Anthony asks angrily.
"Yes," Dyren answers.
"Dyren keep you mouth shut," Angela demand.
"You got some nerve," Dyren says.
"I don't pay you to blab your stupid mouth," Angela scolds.
Dyren pushes onto one side of her ribs sending her into a paralyzing pain. Angela let's put a scream out not realizing the extent of her injuries. Anthony gives her his hand and she hesitates for a second. She takes it after another touch sends another curling scream out of her mouth. Dyren puts a wooden stick in between her teeth.
"Your going to scare away my other patients," Dyren says looking into her eyes.
Angela looks away quickly feeling as he's reading her. She tighten her grip on Anthony hand and she can feel him rub her back.
"You think you're in pain now. Wait for it to wear off," Dyren warns.
"I'm sorry," she says as tear swell up once more.
"I need a more through check up on her," Dyren says to Anthony, "step out for a while."
Anthony for a second doesn't budge from her side. Dyren goes to lift up her shirt when Anthony stumble his way out. The door slams slightly as he hurries to exit.
"Well that was cute," Dyren says with a laugh.
Angela can feel his cold fingers touch her skin. She groans as pain registers. Her hand grips onto the bed trying to stop herself from groaning in pain. They are silent for a while Dyren checks over her torso.
"Beside the ones you got today I don't see any new incidents. Your old ones are healing up nicely," Dyren says putting her shirt down once more, " you should give your body a break."
"I been stressed," Angela confesses.
Dyren goes to the door and slightly opens it.
"Come in boy," Dyren says.
Anthony makes his way inside slowly. He makes way to her side once again giving her a timid smile.
"You need rest," Dyren says clearly.
Angela nods at him will give herself a bit but there is not much time. Things can not get out of control like they did today.
"I let Jesse know we 're here," Anthony says, "police want to ask you a few questions."
"Okay," she says with a small smile. She didn't want to talk with police but there isn't much she can do about it.
Dyren goes through her bag and takes out her aspirin bottle. He signals it towards her. She nods and he just shakes his head in disappointment.
"Your body is really weak. You're skinnier than last time. Give yourself time to heal," Dyren says.
"Okay I'll be fine," she says with a slight smile.
"You're not and you gotta see that," Dyren says.
"I will," she says more seriously.
"I'll let Lillian know police will come by. This is the last favor I'll do for you," Dyren says.
"Okay," she says timidly.
Dyren exits the room and silence feels the space. Angela timidly looks up to Anthony. He gives her small smile awkwardly.
"You have really changed have you?" Anthony says looking at her as if he could see into her soul.
Angela frowns not knowing how to answer that. Anthony just shrugs and shakes his head. She can feel a knot form in her stomach. If there's anyone that can read her its him and it scares her. It was much easier when they had kept their distance from each other.
"I guess it's only natural," he states , "It's been a long time since we been in each other's lives."
"You know I don't hold anything against you," she says softly.
Anthony gives her a smile and silence surrounds them. Angela pats the side of the bed for Anthony to sit and he complies. She leans her body against her. Angela felt at peace just being in his presence. He didn't demand anything from her. It was weird to her. Everyone always were seeking to get something out of her but he just is present.
"Anthony..." she starts, "Could you call me like you use to?"
"Pajarito," he whispers wrapping his arm around her pulling her closer to his chest.
