Angela forces herself out of her bed. Her body is completely tense and her stomach a turmoil. She stares in the mirror finding the dark circles under her eyes. The dumb sleeping pills did not help at all. She does her make up trying to make it light while still trying to cover the circles. Wearing a plain shirt and pants she leaves her house.
She skips breakfast knowing her stomach will only return it. She gets into her small white car. That her father was still paying. She had bought it last year for her after getting her license. She told him a million times that she didn't need a new car. That a used one was fine with her. Yet, he argued that he would feel safer if she rode a new one. In the end he got his way.
Angela turns her music and drives off. The drive to the school was half an hour long on the freeway. She hated that the drive but it was the best private school that gave her a full scholarship. The school did offer closer homing for her but she refused. At the beginning she was overjoyed in leaving and living on her own. Yet, she knew that her father was going to take it hard. After days of debating she decided to stay home.
Parking at the school Angela knows she is way too early. She quickly makes her way to the garden. Another half hour before student start pouring in and an hour before she has class. She puts her stuff on the table. She takes out her aspirin bottle and swallows a pill. She lets herself drop onto a chair. She puts her head back and closes her eyes. Taking deep breathes she goes over her day's plans.
Having an idea of what she has to do she opens her eyes. Angela tries to focus on her studies for a couple minutes.
"Hey you're early?" Jesse says coming towards her.
"Wanted to study a bit before class."
"Maggie told me that Diane is throwing a party," Jesse says.
"Yeah."
"You think that's best for Diane?" Jesse asks taking a seat.
"I'm just trying to distract her."
"I hope it works," Jesse says
"Same here."
"Lewis doesn't even care about her. We can all see it," Jesse says.
"Except her."
"Good morning," Mindy greets.
"Good morning."
"Morning Mindy," Jesse says.
"I saw your car and thought you'll be here. Have you talked to Wendy?" Mindy asks.
"No why?"
"You haven't seen it?" Mindy asks.
"Seen what?"
"I sent you a link yesterday," Mindy says.
"I haven't checked my phone."
Angela takes out her phone and opens Mindy's message. It was a link to a video. She plays as loud music echoes. The camera shuffles for a bit then it stops on two people making out. It was Wendy with a guy. Then they move and her eyes widen as the guy is no other than Lewis.
"Jesse call Maggie. Tell her to meet with Diane and not leave her side."
"Mindy call Tyler and tell him to meet with Ethan. I don't want either of them finding out about this over social media."
Jesse and Mindy finish with their calls. They both stare at her as waiting for more instructions. She hated this. Why the hell today? She was in no mood to deal with this drama.
"Jesse meet up with Tyler and Ethan. He has to know."
"What are we going to do about Diane?" Mindy asks.
"I gotta tell her. Rumors are going to spread and I can't cover those up."
Angela gets up from the table. She storms out of the garden and into the school. She needed to talk to Diane before she had a breakdown. Yet, the one she quickly finds is Wendy with her little group. She sees her and approaches her quickly.
Wendy is about to talk when Angela's hand lands on her cheek. Everything around them goes silent. Wendy only stares at her shocked.
"Girls give us a moment," Wendy tells her group.
Angela curses under her breath as the bell rings. Knowing Diane she was already in class.
"That stung," Wendy says putting her hand on her cheek.
"I'm sorry," Angela says, " I didn't measure my strength."
"More people are going to talk about it now," Wendy says crossing her arms, "I thought you said you'll let this play out when I told you over the weekend."
"I need things to move along faster," Angela states.
"I'll be the bad guy here but lighten up your slaps," Wendy mocks.
Angela rolls her eyes at her. Wendy was always snarky and hard to control. She was a wild card but underneath her hard shell is a person that wants change. That's something that they both could agree on.
"Meet Diane after class and break the news," Angela tells her.
"Oh your being heartless with everyone today," Wendy laughs.
Angela shakes her head. Diane needs a wake up call and she was going to deliver it to her.
"You can't be mad about it though," Wendy says jokingly, "I'll do what I want."
Angela raises an eyebrow at Wendy. Wendy's eyed dart behind Angela and she catches on.
"Next time you slap me I'll return the favor. You hear me," Wendy angrily affirms.
Wendy storms off quickly. Angela takes a breath in knowing today has just started. She turns around to see who had join her. She finds Lewis staring at her with a huge smirk on his face.
"I didn't know you had it in you," Lewis snarks.
