Annabeth
The sound of a surprised gasp is what awoke me from my dreamless slumber. I pushed my blonde curls out of my face before I attempted to fall back to asleep. It was the small groan and shift in the bed that made me want to open my eyes and investigate what all the disruption was.
As I started to come to my senses, I took notice that the smell of the sea was filling up my nostrils. It was surprisingly pleasant and comforting. I sat up and found myself staring back at a confused and slight excited yet concerned Sally Jackson. My eyes widened as they shifted their gaze over to Percy. He wasn't helping much in the situation consider he was sleeping on a puddle of his own drool with his arms around my waist. The words jumbled up in my throat as I muttered a serious amount of apologies.
"I'm so sorry, Ms. Jackson! It's not what it looks like. We didn't do anything, I promise. I came over to apologize and it was storming outside and Percy didn't want me out in the rain late at night. He convinced me to stay and we fell asleep, but nothing happened. Right, Percy?"
Nudging the sleeping male with my elbow, he slowly stirred from his sleep and sat up. After opening his eyes, he let out a shriek at the sight of his mother before turning to me and letting out an even bigger shriek.
"Way to make a girl feel bad about her morning appearance," I grumbled under my breath and attempted to fix my bedhead hair.
"No, no, no! You look beautiful, you just caught me off guard is all. I forgot you slept over for a second." Percy turned towards Sally and quickly exclaimed, "We're just friends!"
Sally couldn't help but start laughing at how flustered we were. Could you blame us, though? We were two teenagers who had just been caught in bed together.
"Percy, you could've just told me Annabeth was sleeping over. I understand and I fully trust that nothing happened between you two. Now you two need to get ready for school."
My eyes widened at the mention of where I need to be and I quickly shot out of bed. "I have nothing to wear. Oh no." I glanced at the clock behind me and paused for a moment to calculate the chances of me getting to school on time. I've never been late, and I certainly wasn't going to start now. "I'm sure if I start running now, I can make it back to my house in time to change."
The woman in front of me shook her head and gently grabbed my arm. "Nonsense, I have some old clothes in my closet that just might fit you." My cheeks flushed a bit as I thanked her. Without glancing back she called over her shoulder, "That wasn't an excuse for you to go back to sleep, Perseus." A small groan could be heard from behind me and I laughed a little before following Sally.

After finally convincing Sally to let us leave with only muffins in our stomachs, we hurried outside. Percy's car keys caught my eyes and I shoved him out the door. "You are not getting us killed today! We're taking the subway."
I grabbed his hand and pulled him along the busy street. I took notice that his eyes were fixated on me. "What? Is there something on my face?" He slowly shook his head. "No, you've just never worn anything other than a sweatshirt and sweats."
I glanced down at my outfit- or Sally's outfit, I should say- and shrugged. It was only a dress and a jacket. I had preferred jeans but this was the only thing that fit me. "I don't have a variety of choices in my closet. It's not like my dad is going to cancel his business trip just because the daughter he could never stand is in need of new clothes." Percy nodded quietly and gave my hand a small squeeze.
We made it into the subway just in time. Along the way, Percy had suggested we stop for churros, to which I responded by smacking the side of his head. The seats were already occupied with other people sitting down, so we decided to stand instead and grip the handrails. I stood there in silence as I thought about last night's events.
We had been close to kissing, I know that. Why did he pull away? Did he not want to kiss me? Why am I even making this a big deal? It's not like I want to kiss him or anything. I didn't, I couldn't.
The subway made a sudden stop, causing me to lose my balance and go flying forward. My face collided into a hard chest. Glancing up, my breath hitched as I stared up into sea-green eyes. My face flushed red as I noticed how close our lips were yet again.
"We just keep finding ourselves in this situation, huh?" He teased.
He smelled like the ocean. I didn't like the ocean that much, but the fragrance that filled up my nostrils was now suddenly my favorite.
Finding the words to speak I mumbled, "This is our stop.." I quickly started walking away before my heart could explode in my chest.
Glancing back at Percy who remained standing there, I shot him a small grin. "Are you coming?"
He shot back a grin. "Right behind ya, Wise Girl."
