The missing Father (#1 in the series)

Felica, Toothless and I do some snooping around

As I walked back through the village, I was trying to figure out how to get home. Before it got dark.

"I know I have a great sense of direction, but I think we are lost". I said.

Toothless shook his head, and made a small roar. All around us were houses, there were people walking up and down the path. They were also going into the houses, parents were telling their children to come in.

"You do where we are going don't you?". I asked.

He nodded in reply. I guess he was looking around to see how to get home, from the pub as we landed. That's the great thing about Toothless, he always knows what to do.

We took a few turns as we walked through Kembleford. It was very peaceful.

"So Toothless about the case". I teased.

He rolled his eyes and me, and shook his head.

"What do you think Inspector Mallory is going to do with the slingshot?". I asked him.

Toothless roared. "Oh so you think he going to try and find out if it is his, interesting". I said.

We were at the church, I could see Lady Felicia standing at the gate. She was looking at the house.

"Hello, Lady Felicia". I greeted.

"Oh hello, now I have so good news and bad news". She said.

I looked at Toothless, he looked back a bit worried.

"Let's go with the negatives first". I said.

"Inspector Mallory came over, he was looking for you at first, but he has took Mrs McCarthy down to the station for questioning". Felicia said.

As soon as she said the place went dark very quickly. The air was starting to turn cold as well.

"And the good news is?". I asked.

"Which means she isn't in the house, so what you said earlier". She answered.

"We can snoop around the house now". I finished. "Race you to the house".

Lady Felicia was excited to do some snooping around the house, I was waiting to see if we could find any clues. Toothless was ready to poke his nose around sniffing things out.

We were inside the house in the kitchen. I looked around, I thought to myself about what clues we might find.

"I'll search here, you can search up in his room". Felicia suggested.

I nodded I ran up the stairs taking two at a time, and went into his room. There wasn't much in his room, just a bed and a book case.

"What are we really looking for". I asked Toothless he shrugged in reply.

I ran my fingers along the spines of the book reading theirs titles. 'Lovely the bible is here'. I thought to myself.

Toothless looked under the bed. I took the bible out of it space, to take a look through it. The bible wasn't really interesting so I put it back.

"Having any luck?". I asked. Toothless shook his head.

I walked out of the room, to go to the room I was staying in. I looked under the bed and around the place. Just to make sure nobody has planted anything in my room, but I didn't find anything.

"I have found something". Shouted Lady Felicia from downstairs.

Toothless and I rushed down the stairs. Lady Felicia was holding a small piece of paper, which looked like it has some writing on it.

"Here have a read through to see what it means". Felicia said handing me the piece of the paper.

"Take the slow lane to the country side". I read aloud whatever does that mean.

"All I know is that it probably has something to do with the countryside". Felicia noted.

Suddenly Mrs McCarthy walked in, which gave me a fright. The inspector was with her.

"Oh good you are back". I said stuffing the note in my pocket.

"Yes, I was only be questioned". Mrs McCarthy said.

The inspector walked up to me, Toothless started to growl at him. I was starting to panic, was he going to talk to me about the thing earlier with the evidence?

"Toothless". I hissed.

He took my hand and placed the slingshot in my palm, like I did earlier. Then he walked out without saying anything. Now that was a bit awkward.

"Just the slingshot". I showed them. "I think I'm going to bed".

Toothless nodded.

"What did he ask you". I heard Lady Felicia asking as I walked up the stairs to our room.

I placed the slingshot down on the side table and started to drift off to sleep. Toothless walked around in circles then sat down to sleep.

I really hope tomorrow will go better than it did today. I hope he turns up soon, this is no longer funny.
