The missing Father (#1 in the series)

Run Inspector Mallory Run

"Run inspector Mallory run". I shouted.

He hesitated for a bit before starting to run after me and Toothless.

"I order you to stop". He demanded.

I wasn't going to stop no matter what. Toothless was running as fast as he could I could hear him pant.

"Just keep running to we get to the end". I panted.

My legs felt like giving up but I had to keep going. I still had the slingshot in my hand, as I held it tightly, it made my hand very sore.

"You can't run forever". Mallory shouted.

"I think you find I can". I shouted back.

We had to duck a few times due to the very low branches, and jump over the fallen logs.

Finally we were close to the end of the woods. I quickly looked back to see that Inspector Mallory was still running.

"Toothless, he is still running which is surprising". I panted.

Toothless and me were at the end of the woods. We quickly looked around to see where we could hide. Oh thanks the lords there is a wall.

Sid was here as well, smoking a cigarette. He noticed us.

"Sid". I panted. "We are being chased, by inspector Mallory".

"Quick hide I'll make a distraction". Sid said.

Toothless and I ran with the last bit of energy to the wall, we fell to the ground with exhaustion. Toothless panted like mad.

"We...made...it". I said taking deep breaths.

I could see the Inspector coming out of the woods, tired as well.

"Trust you to be here...anyway have you seen where her and her "dragon" friend have gone?". He asked.

"Yes". Sid answered. "They went that way". Sid pointed with both arms going different ways. Like the scarecrow in "The wizard of oz".

I could see what was happening. "Sid is confusing Mallory". I said to Toothless.

"Ah, never mind you not much help anyway". Inspector Mallory sighed.

He walked away from Sid and sat down. Sid shrugged then walked away probably back to the house.

I'll admit that was a bit bad, but he did deserve it. Probably not from me of course.

"Are you okay Toothless?". I asked.

He nodded. "Stay here". I told him.

As quietly as I could I walked up to inspector Mallory. He didn't notice me.

"This is an outrage". He muttered. "Running away, you can't do this to me".

I took his hand and placed the slingshot in it. He then looked at me, he did not a very happy look was on his face.

"I should arrest you for doing something like that". He said.

"Yes I know I know, arrest me then". I said.

"I wouldn't do that though, because of them". He said.

Them who does he mean, oh I get it Father Browns flock. I walked to the wall, to get Toothless to go back to the house.

Toothless wanted to say something to Inspector Mallory, so I let him. He gave him a small roar.

"He says, you are a strange one". I translated.

The inspector looked at me in confusion, as if to say you can understand this thing.

"Come on bud lets get back". I said.

We left the inspector sitting there on his own. Examine the slingshot I had gave him.
